Beacon question

Im sure this has already been asked and answered somewhere on this forum but i am havin a tough time with the search tool. so here it goes anyway. im deciding between 2 beacons one being the BCA dts tracker and the other being the ortovox f1. any thoughts on which is the better one to go with?

thanks

havent had to use it yet but I got the orthovox S1. easy to read, easy to switch from transmit to recieve. digital display, will automatically switch back from recieve to transmit after a set time if the beacon doesnt move just in case u get caught in a second avy. more expensive but definatly worth it

I would look towards the mamut pulse, orthovox s1 or the pieps dps. All seem to be great easy to use(practise and training is still a must). If you want something less costly pieps makes a small digital I can't remember the name but very well priced just not as effective for multi-beacon searches.

I went with the mamuth pulse this time and it is the easiest beacon that I have ever used.
Found one for $330.00 usd on Backcountry.com
You can eliminate the signals that you have already found in a multiple burial.
Also has a heart beat - movement sensor.

i live in lethbridge and we dont have much for sled shops round here...do u guys know of anywhere close that has trackers....it sounds like the majority are recomending that one

Tracker is old technology now with only 2 antennas get one that has 3 unless of course you are still riding a 500 fan and like the old stuff.

I'm not sure where you are going ridding, but if your heading into the Crowsnest Pass, you could always rent them...try Mountain Memories Guiding and Rentals Ltd. at (403) 564-4814.
I also know Lori from Zacs Tracs had all kinds of becons for sale, and she can probably give you the best advise on a beacon as that is what she does....http://www.zacstracs.com/
