Beacon Beep?

Hey fellow sleders, I have a tracker dts beacon and on my trip to Idaho this year i turned it on and it did not give me a beep when I did so. When i first bought it, it beeped as soon as i turned it on. we tested it with another beacon from the group and they could still pick up the transmition. Should I be worried and get a new one or do you think it will be ok to wear again next year? Thanks.

How old is the beacon?
Did you try replacing the batteries?
Can you receive and transmit?
Did the speaker get wet or damaged?
You maybe able to send it in and have it checked but I do not know if I would trust it depending on how old it is. Electronics do wear out.

The beacon is only 3 years old and it could have got wet. As far as sending and receiveing transmitions yes it does and it does beep when you get close to another beacon when you are searching but it just doesnt beep when you turn it on. I also have tried other batteries same story, but thanks for the help.

Contacting Back Country Access

I believe I would contact BCA... Here is their web site. If it is out of warranty, they will either fix it for a nominal fee or sell you a new one at a reduced rate.

I sent one back in November that was not beeping and they sent me a new one with a note saying there was something wrong with the old one. Very impressed with their customer service and response time now hopefuly I never need to use it.

hey guys got it warntied no questions asked sent if on a wed. had a brand new one if a week. cant use it again for another 8 months but thanks again BCA!!!
