Just wondering if you guys like your bdx air intake on the '09 m8's. I already have added the full slp system and have a bdx intake but wonder if it is going to perform well in the deep snow-does it plug or is it just fine?? How durable is it??Are you able to install an AC skid plate without covering up the vents?? Just would like a little input before I put a bunch of holes in my bellypan and regret it as soon as I get out west because it leaks snow or plugs easy and doesn't allow the motor to get air. Any input would be welcome-just want to know if I should install or try to return it- also, anyone have a pcIII map for the slp kit for below 3000' and between 8 and 10,000'??? Thanks Guys!!

hey

I have slp kit, and bdx intake on my 09 hcr. Awsome weight loss, incredible throttle response. Didn't get any snow in intake first ride, filled it up on second ride in 5 degree weather with sugary powder. I heat taped all around the cover, so no snow comes in from the top anywhere. I'm still working on all the cracks from bumber to cowling.

I trimmed the wings on my skid plate for my intake holes. I also put the pre filter on the inside of the nose and Mo-Flow mesh on the outside.

i'm pushing an 08 m8 with a full speedwerx pipe set and fuel regulater...have the bdx intake but not runnin it with the pipe...ran it before loved it but removed it for because i wanted to run the pipe...any of u guys have trouble runnin with th epipe setups????

When I first installed I had a few issues in deep dry powder sucking snow around airbox like a vacuum cleaner.I took bumper all apart and siliconed it all up and have never vacuumed snow since,
Only other little problem was when sidehilling on exhaust side in deep powder,I would suck exhaust till she would stall. This would always happen in a bad place like when you have a cliff on left side.
I fixed this problem by replacing my can with a Speedwerxs tunnel dump exhaust.
Now it runs excellent, not a single problem other than the installation of the can that requires you to cut two wholes with one in tunnel.I had too buy more tools to do properly.

After all the work put into making this work, I am very satisfied with the end results.

Just installed one on my 08 M8 and did not drill the holes in the front end. I couldn't imagine how this intake would work when you're pushing snow deeper than the bumper---the plastic plate is intended to NOT allow under-hood air in, and the front would be plugged from snow---does not make sense to me.

Got this idea from the dealer in Boise to use under-hood air with a lot of venting. They were running this setup last year with much success. Take the filter screens provided for the nose and use them around the gauge. The small triangles fit on the round sides surrounding the gauge. The larger rounded-triangles fit on each side of the gauge pod where the headlight adjustment screws are located (a little bit of trimming required). I drilled 1/2" holes everywhere and slapped the screens over the top. Will take a picture tonight if you're interested. Ran it for the first time over the weekend with deep snow, but it was wet and not coming over the hood, so I don't have a good test run yet with deep/fine powder. I went ahead and installed the black plastic plate over the intake for a little protection, but I drilled it full of 1 1/4" holes first. I did not use the optional vent below the intake because I'm worried that all the ice build-up around the A-arms would end up poking a hole in the vent.

I also have 2Cool shock tower vents and side panel vents. With the stock air plenum removed, you're also getting a lot of air through the stock intake screens by the headlights.

call slp and ask. on my 09 m1 i have been running the slp pipe kit bdx intake 0-3000 ft with the pc3 and it works very well. its a little rich on the bottom end and i havent held wot and checked the plugs but otherwise the last 50 miles have went very well. with the slp map on the pc3 when switching from 0-3k to 8-10k or any higher elevation it automatically compensates for the change in elevation.

lol

wow i wouldnt dream of putting those on where i ride i alder munch all kindsa little trees and endup in the bushes now and then lol!!! i also cant run anything on the side panels thats soft meterial, i ripped them out too. but i could see using them if you lived where there were no trees and brush and open mountain terrain or something...

I also installed mine last year, rode all winter with no problems. love the weight loss-never had any bog issuses.

I ran one on my M8 for a 1 season. I did not notice a power increase or decrease. I did have problems with it filling with snow and brush poking holes in the front vents. Also the sled would suck exhaust at idle and when in a side hill on exhaust side. The intake noise was also increased.

Overall the weight loss was great. But I ended up going back to stock untill I find somthing better.

I did a little bushwacking last nigh and the front vents made it throgh unscathed. I evn had to do a little water cross through an open brook and had no problem with a dead start in the water.

Just putting in the BDX intake. Followed the instructions and wondering if I will need to add fuel?? It is an 06 EFI M7 running a can?? Thoughts? Not trying to high jack the thread!
