So I am having an issue with all 3 of the BD Pro's that I have put together. They are all running way strong, but I am getting water in the oil tank. After the first ride on my personal, I checked oil level, and noticed that it was a milky white color (like water had been mixed in). I attributed this to the breather spout opening on the back side of the tank. I was pretty sure that last years kits had a rubber hose breather system to go on the spout, so I rigged up a 5/8" fuel hose and routed it up to about 8-10" above the tank, and topped it with a mini filter (looks like a mini K&N). We did this to 2 of the 3 sleds. I put in brand new BD Turbo oil and went riding. When I checked level again in the garage, it was milky white again, in both sleds.
Today, I called BD directly to see what the problem might be. Basically I was told that it must be condensation in the tank. Furthermore the hose/breather would make it worse, and it should be removed, and that they had left the spout open intentionally. I was also told that the tank should only have 12-14 oz in it, not the entire 16oz bottle included w/the kit (the install instructions say to add ENTIRE bottle into tank). When I asked if any other of their sleds were having this issue, I was told no. What I don't understand, is that everyone is going to have condensation, unless your oil tank always stays hot, and never cools off.
Is anyone else having this issue?
Anyone have any ideas as to why this would be happening in such an isolated incident?
Also, Is anyone using oil other than the BD brand "turbo" oil.
This is in no way meant to "Bash" or badmouth BD as I am extremely happy, again, with another one of their turbo kits. I am simply looking for a solution to a simple problem. Hopefully this thread can stay to topic and not turn into a trashtalking thread like others have>
Thanks
