BD Jetforce Bag

Looks nice, not sure I can justify the cost, Just got a new float 25 for under $650. If this is the next generation of avy bag technology I would expect the other players to get on board and see some other options from them in the near future. I'm going to sit tight for now.

I agree! I don't mind being a first time user. I post a review when I get mine. I also think the websites price is about 200$ high. one dealer I talked to said he was thinking more like $1,000

I want one for this winter too - hope they are out by Christmas....

I like the idea but I'm going to stick with my ABS bag another year, it has the proof behind it. I hope the new technology work. But I will wait,

We have been talking with BD all week, and this is definitely an interesting product. We have a few concerns, but look to get them addressed for you guys ASAP. They would like us to carry the product for the snow guys, but as of now looks like it will be coming out soon.

Things we would like to address.
•Battery Life. How is it? How much battery life is needed to not only deploy the bag, but keep it inflated.
•Fan Pressure. Does it have the ability to keep the bag inflated under severe weight and compression of snow? How does the valving work.
•Cold Weather. Will the cold affect the fan, and the battery more than in test conditions?
•What sizes will be available for the Sled world, and are there any options for a sled specific model with trigger etc on the correct shoulder.

As we here more we will be able to chat with you guys and bring more information.

Battery Life I think should be plenty good. Good enough that a charge the night before is good for one test pull each time. Along with the battery life indicator I'd say you're good. No different than having a leaking canister. and not knowing it till its too late

Fan Pressure will surprise you. An EDF or Electric ducted fan are wildly powerful. Some people think they are using simple computer fans.. they are not. a 70mm EDF is good for 5-7lbs of thrust at full power.... more than enough. And the idea is to keep you from getting sucked under in the first place. I've never done a "pressure test" from an EDF and I'm not sure of the size of the one in the bag. most 70mm Fans are equal to 1HP

Cold shouldn't effect the fan as its a simple device, no brushes... As for the battery.... IDK thats a good question. But Im betting they are using something like an LiFEPO4 battery type or something that is more stable in the cold.

As for the rest IDK. Im glad Im not the only one that thinks this is a good advance in bags.

Any update on this bag??

Just curious if anyone has one, their real-world experiences etc.....Thanks.

Interesting! From the video, for me the bag seems bulky and uncomfortable to wear. Doesn't seem to be contoured very good. Maybe in person it's better, but kind of looks like my old Jan sport backpack.

Whats yur life worth to you? I bought an ABS bag yrs ago for the same $ Cringed yes but I wanted the best available option if I put myself in that situation. Yes it has been deployed in an avalanche situation. Twice. Nitrogen psi wont fluctuate like reg co2 in the cold. Plus they claim a 97% survival rate.

Not trying to argue in anyway, and I own a avalanche bag, and feel its the best investment for increased survival......but their statics are a little skewed IMO. Everyone quotes the 97% survival rate, but that is misleading. There is a difference between between “absolute reduction in mortality” and “relative reduction in mortality.” Not trying to undersell the "avalanche backpack" and the importance of buying one, just don't be lulled into a false sense of security that if you have a pack you have a 97% chance of surviving, which is not the case. I have read multiple studies, here is one that illustrates it fairly well.http://www.adventure-journal.com/2013/03/the-truth-about-airbags-and-avalanche-survival/ With that being said, from what I have read, the best way to increase your odds of survival, other than not being caught, is having and deploying you avi back when caught in an avalanche. Excited for the new technology and safety improvements coming out!

Black diamond packs are some of the most comfortable ones out there. Definitely not anything resembling a jansport bag.

some people I ride with purchased these and theres not even room for the shovel handle!! they ended up just tying them on the outside of the pack.. works great till you ride thru the trees:face-icon-small-sho

Got to put me hands on one of these in person and it is a very nice pack. Thought it had just as much room as my float 22. Something I will be looking at getting before next years season begins.
