What's everyone's take? Any great new design or function worth the extra $ for the 2?

Sounds like BCA makes a good one regardless.... I'm assuming a guy would be in good shape with either one?

for the money I think the new barryvox element looks pretty good. element is the same price as the tracker 2 but easier interface and multi search marking ability. shops are just getting them in stock now so they mayo still be harder to find.

tracker2 looks okay but really lacks some of the functions that others have.

Tracker 2 IMO. Along with many other people who teach classes. Reason being the the simplest beacon to use and search with, and its accurate. Their is alot of hype about this multi searching ability, frankly if you have mufti burials people are going to die. You just can dig them out fast enough. Usally by the time you get one person out he is almost out of breath and then to go find another one and dig them out also.....Best bet is just to Never put your self in a situation were could have that. Not saying its not a good function to have cause in some rare cases it could happen but i dont think it should be the soul reason of buying a beacon. Espically for us rec users, now i think the more advanced beacons are much better suited for guides and ski patrol who use them a lot more.

People freak out when someone is burred even if its just a training thing. Not everyone but a lot do they panic that's why i think Simplicity if the number one reason to buy one. Tracker 2 is that. Pull that tab and follow the lights. Also the tracker is really easy to see some of the other beacons with the display can be hard to see depending on light and if its snowing.

Biggest thing...one guy on the hill at a time...the rest....out of the way of the slide path...watching your buddy until hes off and its your turn. And know avy conditoins, ride smart.

Just my 2 cents.

A 3antenna beacon is far superior. Really no need to by a two antenna beacon again, ever. They will soon be obsolete! BCA makes a great product either way, but spend the extra $45on the tracker two! You won't be disappointed.

X2. I just took an Avy class from Mike Duffy and he stressed the importance of a good, functional three antenna beacon. As technology advances we need to keep up with it and update our gear accordingly. I wasn't planning on buying a new beacon this year as I have the BCA tracker, but after his class I will be updating mine.

On a separate note, if you have the chance to take one of Mike's classes I would highly recommend you do it. He is a wealth of knowledge on avalanches and presents the information from the snowmobiler's perspective.

I use an Orto S1 for myself, but use the T2 for my wife & for our spares, and hands down T2 unless you're a guide or someone who is likely to be dealing with groups of gumbies who you can't control.

I love my S1, but the T2 is simpler, cheaper, and much easier to use without a large time investment. Barryvox makes a good beacon as well, but it also requires more of a time investment imo to get the most out of it. I'd go pieps before Barryvox myself though.

I would recommend the Tracker 2 over the Tracker. The beacon is simple to use and very fast.

Same class I took. It could easily be a 2-day class. Mike is a great guy down to earth and explains it so everyone understands. Would like to take one of his in the field classes.:thumb:
