Is Bushmaster right that all the pack needs is one hole made to use a hydration system? I would think I could melt a hole if that is all it would take.

thanks for all the info. watching closley. me and a buddy will be picking one up for next season it looks like.

Works fine. Heated a 3/8" OD piece of alum tube a little with a propane torch and melted the hole. Doesn't take much heat to get through the fabric! I got into the back plastic a little but not bad. I decided to stitch mine up to reinforce it and make it look like less of a hole. One of those curved needles you never had a use for comes in handy and some upholstery grade thread.

Pull the valve off the tube and work it up through the hole where the shoulder strap comes through.

Bladder fits good in the air bag compartment and I think it will be OK in there?? May stitch in some eyelets to clip the bag too to keep it upright in the main compartment though. Like to know where the system gets it's air for the venturi assist. I assume from inside the pack. Need to fire it jammed full and see if that interferes any.

Great looking modification to the bag, I will be doing the same thing to run my water once I can get my hands on one. My uncle was in Denver last week for the ski trade show and got to check out then trigger this bag and said it was fantastic. The only problem is BCA told him they were going to start selling it for $699 not the $499 price I have seen on here from dealers. Is this correct, has the price gone up for the Float 30? I see in the older post that the price was going to increase for next year. Are they still selling them for $499 and $699 for the new production with changes or have all the prices increased by $200?

Looks good, but be careful putting items in the enclose compartment with the venturi system. The air comes from all around the pack, which is why it is sealed off in a separate compartment.

The current packs are still $499 and do not have the changes for next year built in. Next year the changes will be incorporated into the packs and will be $200 more.

No problem putting the bladder in the main compartment. Has anybody tested the bag stuffed full yet? Polar Express? Both my pulls were with the bag empty. Next one will be with it stuffed full.

SnowBigDeal,

Do you know exactly what changes are going to be made? Trying to decide if I should buy this years or wait. Thanks.

I'm with "BigAir" what are the changes going to be? I'm on the fence to buy one this year or wait till next season and pay the higher price if it is worth it.

Personally, I have had several deploys with a loaded pack, and no function problems. I have done it with my 'coughlans' emergency tarp and a SAM splint in the same area as the valve/air cylinder.

But, I like your idea of doing the test with your gear in your pack as if you were riding.

The only two items that I am aware of are a ski-carry option and hydration. There could be more items that get changed/modified once the packs go to production. Knowing BCA the packs won't come out until March of 2011 anyway :face-icon-small-sho

Normally I don't use more than about 20 liters of space, but nice to be able to stuff a fleece in when needed.

Transferred all my gear into the new pack and stuffed a fleece on top. Water bladder in the back compartment. Pack was stuffed very full. Fired fine and filled in a couple of seconds. Good to see the venturi system found the air it needed.

Recieved mine today, thanks SBD. Quality seems really good and I like the layout a lot. Going into town Saturday to find a place to fill it/test it.

From the pics it looks like the cylinder should be re-fillable at any paintball shop, the nipple is a standard fill nipple. Where is this O-ring on the system? on the connection to the bag? because the fill does not use an O-ring if it is the same fill I think it is. If you really want to get crazy you could buy a scuba cylinder and a fill adapter and be able to re-fill at the truck!

BCA thanks you

Thanks to all of you for your informative and supportive posts. Pleased to hear that the Float30 has met or exceeded your expectations. We at BCA are proud of our products. All feedback is welcome and will serve to help us continue to provide quality gear. The next generation of Float30 packs will be in production soon with ETA at your local retailers in early fall 2010. Look forward to seeing you at our booth at the Expo at West Yellowstone or the Jackson World Championship Hillclimb. Keep safe out there!

Move the straps to the top of the pack where they belong & I'll buy another one next year!!!

Good pack otherwise though!

So I got a chance to put all my gear in the pack and try it on. It doesn't have as much room as I thought it would. Maybe I have too much survival gear but I was hoping for a little more storage space. I'm not a huge fan of the handle either, kind of a PIA to tuck inside the strap, then pull out, ect. It also looks like it would be easy to snag but I haven't test fired it yet so I don't know how much effort it takes to activate the bag. I like how the ABS packs have the handle out all the time with a velcro strap covering them. I would also have prefered a seperate external flap for my shovel blade. Anything inside the shovel puch now is going to wet. Just nit picking but thought I'd post my .02 anyway. I do like the layout of the pockets and the pack is comfortable to wear.

So, will the hydration involve a major redesign? Will they include a separate compartment for the blatter? I am ready to buy one, but I will not ride without my blatter. I will punch a hole like Bushmaster did and save myself $200, unless next years setup is going to be a lot better.

Bca

Dont let them chit ya the reason they are going to cost another $200 is because they see how much more money thay can make.Since they have not filled all there preorders from last year you wont see the new bag until summer next year. They have been telling us since christmas it will be 2 more weeks and we still have not seen them, now they are telling us not until end of march,we ordered 10 only and they keep giving us the run around.I think that there customer service sucks.Just what I think

And you think they're making money selling them at $500 this year??? They're losing money selling them so cheap this year. They announced the $500 price before they even started making them, so that's what they had to sell them at, even if they didn't make much money. I really don't think BCA is in this business to just give away airbags at their own expense. The $200 price jump will be so that they can continue to make airbags without going bankrupt. There's a reason why ABS and SnowPulse are so expensive, and that's because it actually takes money to make an airbag.
