BB Guns

I'd like to pick up a bb gun to shoot some birds with. There's several with nests in my shop and horse shed. First, they're messy, second- not healthy for the horses. I don't want to shoot holes in my shop, so thought a bb gun might be ideal. I don't want one though that isn't good enough to actually kill the birds. Question is, what velocity do I need? Thanks!

most any will work...sometimes the spring loaded "red rider" ones take a few shots though. Get either a CO2 powered one or the kind you have to pump a few times.

I have a 760 pumpmaster that works awesome... pump it up 13 or 14 times, load a bb, then drop 5 or 6 more bbs down the end of the barrel = in town bird slayin machine

Just get a .17 cal, might be a tad messy but it'll be fun!

Then you can load ballistic tips and go gopher huntin after work. Good times!

I had a crosman 2100 and a Benjamin 392 both great guns and fairly inexpensive. defiantly go for the pump kind as you can regulate the power so your not shooting threw the roof.

if your just after cheep and simple, a little red ryder bb gun will work for ya and be cheapest...

ive killed everything i ever shot at with one even though it is a smooth barrel

another key element is bbs are made of copper instead of lead like pellets wich would probably be better incase one gets injested by one of your horses... and the red ryder holds like 640 BBS

dont shoot your eye out kid...

poison in pie plates up high works best for us... no worry about shooting through anything that way...

Once you get a couple dead birds layin around outside the others stay away...

We have used Fly Bait to get rid of lots of critters but never birds.

Great thanks! The old one I used to shoot would just bounce bbs off everything. The pump ones are fairly cheap too. I'll look around. Was thinking of the bb and pellet combo...

Ok, I don't do pink! I don't wear pink, my sled has NO pink, my gear isn't pink, I just don't like it. Absolutely NO pink guns! I know my .357 pistol will kill birds just fine, but it will definitely put holes in buildings. Have a couple .22s, but same problem.

Ok, I don't do pink! I don't wear pink, my sled has NO pink, my gear isn't pink, I just don't like it. Absolutely NO pink guns! I know my .357 pistol will kill birds just fine, but it will definitely put holes in buildings. Have a couple .22s, but same problem.

If you have a old 22 cal rifle that shoots short/longs & long rifle your all set, Just pick up some 22 CB's & get busy. The CB's have no powder & just fire off the primer charge that will kill any bird you come across & not destroy your barn. They are very quiet too so you dont run out of targets to soon

& wear safety glasses please

.22LR rifle + CCI Shotshells = dead birds with minimal collateral damage to your structure. This combo and a little stealth stalking took care of the woodpecker problem around my house.

I like the ole cheapy at Walmart that comes with a scope for around 60 bux. I want to say they are about 700FPS. They shoot better than the spring **** red ryder. Seems with the Redryder you can see the bb flying in a huge rainbow arch.

go with anything but the red ryder they dont have any power and wont even hurt a bird

Thanks for the help! My boyfriend just called me from Cabelas (didn't even know he was there) and got a pumpmaster. Should work fine. I'm not going to shoot my eye out....I do remember the old ryders my cousins had when we were kids. They would sting but not penetrate the skin. Trying to shoot rabbits and the bbs would just bounce off.

Plus there's this bird that picks on one of my geese. He'll dive bomb the goose, then hop along behind pecking his tail. The geese screams and runs around trying to escape, stupid goose. He's not that bright I guess. Not sure I wanna kill that bird, it's pretty entertaining.

My kids are asking santa foa a "baby" gun for xmas this year. Too funny! I keep telling them BB gun but they still call it a baby gun!!
