looking into a light weight battery for my 2013 rmk pro 800 e start. looking at earth x etx36d 3.6lbs on their web site. are they good has anyone tried them out?
also whats the weight of the stock batt

Not sure of the weights but the 12 cell antigravity battery is probably a third the size and half the weight

Alien Motion, smaller and lighter than you stated and about $150. Myself and 5 friend sran these last year on e-start, 3 turbos and 4 stock.
 
battery tender just released their own line of lithium iron phosphate batteries a few weeks ago. the one that fits the pro's is only 1.76lbs, has a 3 year warranty and retails for $149.95us

What is the part # for a 2013 Pro Rmk 800 stock battery replacement from Battery Tendery? Their online menu drop down does not show snowmachines....

Because Lithium Ion batteries aren't designed for snowmobiles. I can't recall the brand but last year I called one of the manufacturers because they didn't have a drop down menu for snowmobiles. They said that a lithium ion battery needs something to keep it a little warm to be able to use it as a starting battery in cold weather.

I can't explain it correctly I'm sure but basically because a snowmobile doesn't have anything on it that causes a bit of a continuous draw (which evidently keeps the battery warm because it's doing something all the time) the battery gets too cold and won't perform well so they don't recommend them for snowmobiles.

I googled lithium Iron Phosphate batteries and, yep, they don't perform well at all in cold temps. The article I just read said that they basically stop working at -4 degrees F.

I have a Speedcell. Not sure which type of lithium it is. You have to start it yourself first thing but the rest of the day it's fine. No jam when it's cold.
 
I have several Phantom LI batteries. Out of 6 we tried 3 fail we replaced 1 and the rest are still working fine. Phantom doesn't want their batteries sold for cold weather use any longer according to my supplier. It's is important to keep them on a high quality tender when not in use.
On the two strokes they do better than the big four strokes.
 
Good info so far thanks for everything so far. No info on the earth x battery? No one has tried them
 
Cold weather

As stated above the new Lithium do not like extreme cold. I was told by tech service at Alien Motion there are 2 choices to help get around this, one, pull start first time in morning, or two, turn key to run but not crank engine, wait 5-10 seconds or so, then repeat a couple times, then crank and start. By cycling key a couple times, this will cycle a current through battery, which in the lithium battery actually warms it and increases charge rather than drain like a normal lead-acid battery. These were instructions for a 12 cell and 8 cell. The smaller 4 cell will need to be removed with a quick connect and taken inside on extreme cold nights. The newer 16 cell they have this year will not have these issues as bad. I have not had any problems with my 12 cell using this procedure when really cold. I've had it down to around minus 10 F. Hope this helps.
 
Alien Motion 12 cell had 2 of them all last yr in all kinds of temps. Both worked perfect. You save a good 13 to 14 #s. Good luck
 
Just placed an order for an Antigravity YTX12-16 battery. It exceeds the AH & CCA ratings of the OEM battery. Also, it's only a little small in length, 5 7/8" vs. the stock 6 7/8", and height.

Stock battery is 18ah with 270 or 310cca (depends on which YTX20 model)

The Antigravity YTX12-16 is 22ah with 480CCA.

Weight loss is a guess at about 8 to 10 lbs.
 
EarthX Battery ETX18C

I did a bunch of research on lithium batteries last year before buying one for Pro RMK electric start.

EarthX was the best choice in my opinion since it was the only one I could find that actually has a cell balancer built right in to the battery, the others I found require a specific charger ($50) to be used periodically to balance the lithium cells. From what I read this imbalancing of the cells is what causes these batteries to fail prematurely.

The Earth X batteries are a bit more expensive but I also didn't buy the top of the line ETX36D ($349) that they recommend on the website for the Pro RMK. I bought the ETX18C ($209) instead since through the comparisons I had done it looked like this would provide enough cold cranking amps for the sled. It has been working great for the past year and hopefully continues too. The ETX18C is the same dimension in width and length but is a bout 2/3 the height of the standard Polaris battery. It comes with foam to take up the extra space. Factory battery weighed 13 lbs EarthX ETX18C is 2.4lbs on my scale.

The other concern raised with Lithiums is that they supposedly don't work cold and guys say you have to use your pull cord for the first start but all it needs to do is warm up a bit, this can be done by making the battery work a little. People may look at you kind of funny but when cold starting all I do is crank my sled for about 5 secs, turns over too slow to start, sit for another 10 secs then next try it fires right up. For the rest of the day it will fire up right away. I've been very happy with this battery, in the Canadian cold so far.
 
thank you to all with your help with this one. i did just order my earth x 36 got her for 300 canadian not to shabby.i should see it this week cheap way to drop 10 pounds or so.. so this season i will be 100 lbs lighter than last season.this should take my riding to the next level

I lost 90lbs off of me. a new light weight me ripping it up went from xxl gear to a comfortable large..last season I finished at the end of may and I was 268-270lbs now I am 178-182lbs and maintaining that
