Barnes Lake

Anyone ride the Barnes lake B.C (Corbin Area) lately.. My buddies and I are planning a trip on the 16/Feb/2010 and a couple of us are renting sleds @ $350 a day, so we would like to hear if there is any good riding in the area....any info would be GREAT....

have not been to barnes in a long time, hah but it is good riding if there is snow. another area to check out in corbin is to keep sledding past the barnes lake turn off, hit the 4 way and go east there. there is a bowl all the way into the back, about 1 km before you hit that bowl there is another to the south, sorta hard to find, just look for the valley going to the south. At the 4 way if you go west, i think it is a old sismic line you can ride that into the pipeline area. roughly 5km in on that, go up a avy shout and you will be at the top of barnes lake. so you could do a circle route.

another area before carbin is the pipeline, just head in there and you will find something pretty easy as there are trails and sleds everywhere

hope that helps

Thanks for the info, That is the area that we are going to try first. I ve road the pipe line a rolling hills area lots in the past....but never did ventured further east into barnes, south kootney region...With the avy rating so low i think are best bet for a good ride is going to be in the higher country. We have a couple of intermidate riders coming with us, so what i am asking is? What kind of skill level should u be to ride the barnes lake area? anymore info would be great...

Was in corbin on monday....whole area was pounded but there has been some fresh snow....so it should be fine.

anyone how much snow was in the back country? ski hill is reporting about a foot in the last 48 hours.

anywhere in corbin is real easy to get to. It all trails to the base of the bowls. barnes there is a cabin to hang out in and have a fire. the lake has a ton of climbing, from the lake head east it sorta climb to get up but it is flat on top with good tree work.

The place at the 4 way crossing is same thing, trail right into the bowl, easy stuff.
