Banshee snow bike

Ok granted it would be slightly wider than a single.

http://www.moddedraptor.com/community/pictures-videos/18321-dirtbike-w-banshee-motor.html

You can get some ridiculous power out of these motors, especially something like a cheetah big bore kit or others on the market. Anyone thought about doing something like this?

Or even considered a Zabel 700cc motor?

There's a lot of options if you are considering building. I would think if you can avoid the turbo and keep the thing light like a bike should be and still well surpass 100 hp you would be doing really well.

How much can they get out of a Banshee?

Know my Eric Gorr KTM 380 with a paddle tire smoked every Banshee I ever came across in the dunes.

If 700 is the Maico, it has a right side chain drive. So would have to figure that out.

something like 80 hp, and the larger cheetah cylinders can get you over 100. But it would be really costly. Stock banshee is something like 35 hp at the rear wheel? There is a company claiming 108 hp on their kit, but actual results probably are much less. That's a $2k kit, and doesn't count other mods required like pipes intakes etc to achieve those numbers.

LA sleeve has a kit for $700.

And yeah I do believe the zabel is right side, and the newest motor is only a four speed.

i think that motor is just too small to jerk around with.

great idea, but to put any time into it i think you'd need a 500cc motor in stock trim.

tons of chassis work + tons of engine work = headaches.

someone should do it, but count me out.

from my vantage point, i think 85 horse out of a kx/cr500 should be possible in snow trim.

Yeah, probably a lot more advantages to the 500 as well.

Doesn't hurt to think aloud, and seems 2 cylinders will make more ponies for the same CC's, over a single.

Motor maybe isn't so wide, but those pipes are PITA they way they are.

I'd like to see somebody do a V-twin with the Suzuki Cat 800 jugs. People have done v-twins with the CR500 jugs, but the numbers aren't anywhere near a 800 snomow.

Oh well, someday hopefully we'll have a ground up purpose built snowbike.

I wanted to build a banshee snow bike. Custom Mattoon cases with CPI caracal/scimitar cylinders, you could have a 700-1000cc twin. Should have ~150 hp depending on porting. One thing I am wary about is the transmission; the way they cut the gears you can't coast with the clutch in or the screws the transmission from what I understand. It would be a chute slayer. I would love to do this if it is guaranteed to work.

Zabel 700 motor, looked into them last year. Was changed to a 4spd from a 5spd a couple years ago to strengthen the gears. Right side drive. Can make up to 90hp at the wheel at about 5,000rpm. Piston is huge and is recommended replaced every 40ish hours. Pic is of a CR 500 piston in a zabel 700 cylinder, yea it's huge. For a brand new motor it's about $6,000 USD before shipping to US. There is no one selling the motor in the US or canada.
