Banning of race fuel in Canada

Ottawa has taken the initiative to ban all leaded fuels by '09, this includes all high octane race fuels as well as av gas. As the legislation reads now, all aviation fuel recieves a permanent waiver but race gas will be banned as of 09. A lot of us on here not only use it in our sleds but we are also involved in some form of motorsport that requires this type of fuel. Not only is this bill crippling to the sports we love but the track owners and operators will seriously feel the effects as well. Currently 98.5% of this type of fuel is being used by he aviation business and only 1.5% is used by the racing community however the government has decided to only come after this sector.
I found an online petition that I will try to set up a link to, if it fails maybe someone else with better computer skills than me can post it. Even if this bill does not directly effect you I believe as many as read this should sign it just

because its dumb and the Canadian government needs to know we care.

Are they banning race fuel? Or are they requiring race fuel to be unleaded? NASCAR went to unleaded race fuel last season to be freindly to the enviroment. Some work needed to be done in valvetrain improvement though. As far as 2 stroke engines using unleaded race fuel it should not be a problem because of the oil being used as the lubricant. And the 4 stroke Yamaha's should also be unleaded ready.

2 strokes aren't the problem. It's the poor buggers with race cars that are gonna have to spend a whack of cash revamping motors for it. Not to mention unleaded race fuel is rediculously priced compared to leaded.

Poor and race cars just don't go together in the same sentance

How about if I word it, the poor buggers with race cars running on a smaller budget?

So can anyone tell me the benefit of banning leaded fuel from 2% of the users?

sure, cause it SOUNDS good when the politicians can say they've done something. and it would cost WAY to much if done to av gas, and there might be an out cry from that, but for the most part, no one is really going to care what happens to the race car guys, other then themselves
