Bank teller fired for taking down robber

Another thing I saw on the news last night was that there was an attempted bank robbery and after the robber left the bank, one of the tellers ran after him and tackled him until police were able to arrive. Heroic eh???? The teller was fired because he acted against the policy of the bank....

What a joke. Yes, if a robber has a gun pointed at your face then you comply with demands and whatnot...but the guy should have gotten an award from the company for helping bring a man to justice that tried to STEAL from them.

I am sure the bank is liable for anything that happens to the employee. Had he/she not succeeded and been injured in the attempt the bank would have been footing the bill. Rules are rules and put into place for a reason.

The dude seems to be okay with being unemployed (probably making more money now anyway) but he sounds like the kind of guy that wasn't okay with someone getting away with it.

hey he did it outside the bank so didn't he follow the banks rules till the guy left bank property

I work as a security consultant to financial institutions, and that is precisely what we tell our banks and credit unions to write into their employee conduct manuals.

Let the pros handle catching him. over 95% of bank robberies are solved. Banks are insured against loss of funds from a robbery, besides banks are lousy targets, because they have very little money physically in a teller line anymore........
