Banff/Cochrane Riding

Where is the riding around Cochrane or Banff? I have a friend that recently moved to Cochrane. I’m thinking about making a trip to visit and go riding on his terrain.

Is it worth taking the sleds or should we just plan on hitting the slopes at a resort?

The nearest reliable riding to Cochrane is Golden. If there is sufficient snow you might be able to find something to ride in the Wiaprous off-road area,but that is iffy. Cataract Creek south of Highwood Pass has a trail system run by the Calgary snowmobile club, again dependent on good snow.

In short, go skiing.
