Bandana for your Helmet and neck in Deep Powder

I caught a glimpse of a sled video the other day in which the riders were riding in deep powder. They had Bandanas that attached to their helmets. Looked like it worked good to keep the powder out. Anyone know where to get these at?

Probably not a typical bandanna, probably a baclava. I wouldn't use a cotton bandanna for anything but wiping my nose on. Cotton is bad in the wet and cold.

They sell over the head, down the neck coverage, usually called a baclava, usually made out of more water resistant materials like nylon or polyester fleece. Try First Place Parts or any snowmobile shop.

I've never had an issue with snow down the neck. I use the Klim Arctic balaclava on colder rides and their $20 collar thing on the warm mountain rides.

Now, if you want something like the bandanna thing, I'd look at the new Klim over the collar balaclavas (link below). Seems that for the bandanna thing, the snow that gets into the eye hole of your helmet is gonna go straight down your neck.

Interesting idea.
I might consider it if could think of a time that I wished I had something better than my balaclava tucked in tight and my jacket zipped up all the way, tucked under the jaw of my helmet.

We have used these products and will be offering them shortly! They are really only needed for the super deep blower days, and we do not wear it all the time but it definitely has a time and a place. As for the steam, it really is not as bad as you would think as it doesn't really seal any area off. if you still breathe down through your nose or blow below the chin guard of the helmet most everything dissipates quickly.

Baklava is a greek pastry. A balaclava is what you are referring to. Neither are what the OP is looking for. Nekkr is what you're looking for. Made in Steamboat and they have excellent customer service. I have one and love it. Only use it on deeeeep days, but it's worth its wait in gold then. Easily removed and installed, keep it in your pocket so you always have it. A balaclava should be part of your kit as well if you don't already have one.

I tried the Nekar deal and it was a steam chimney. I think it is purpose use. Super deep days. Other than that nor really useful IMHO.

I have used what the OP is talking about for years, they are usually neoprene and have snaps that click onto the side of your helmet. Old school open face helmets. They cover your face from just below the eyes and usually have a tail on them that you can tuck into your coat. You can undo one side and let them flap out of the way or snap it back on while your riding. Work great in cold weather. Downside is when the speeds get up there they have a nasty habit of coming out of your coat and blowing up over your eyes. Gets interesting in a hurry. :face-icon-small-con

edit: skidoo used to sell they over the counter, Canadian tire also, I don't know where you'd find them these days

They go around the base of your helmet and hang down to your shoulders and V towards your chest and cover all exposed areas, I have had snow packed in my full face helmet these keep the snow from flying up under your full face helmet. If you dont ride in bottom less deep powder you may not feel the need for one.

Have heard a lot of good thinks about nekr. Picked one up to try at haydays. That crew wS super helpful and great to work with!
