Great job on the video and audio (Rush), good timing on your part getting up there Wednesday a day ahead of everybody else. I'm stuck at work until Saturday so thanks for giving me a taste of what I missed, I can see Baker out my window and can only wish I was there.:ballchain:

Great Video, Great Riding!
We were up Thur. afternoon good spring like conditions , we rode till dark
and everything was freezing up when we left.Met the groomer on the way
out. If you go, drive up to the sign that says no driving past this point to park
,unless you like gravel.See ya, Sparks

So was the snow decently soft when you found untracked? Where is the parking at right now? I have not been to baker this year yet, but I may have to start going about 2 months earlier then I normally do:face-icon-small-sho

West edge sparks- thanks for the report, pm'd ya..

Depends where you were. There was a lot of wind blown areas with a surface crust 1-2" thick, especially the higher you went. Down low was icy horrible crud. The pic early in the vid shows where it rained on the snow. Pretty sweet looking, not fun to ride in. Around 5k feet was real nice, especially in some sheltered areas. Off your sled you'll sink in almost up to your knees. I'd call it great spring snow, certainly not fresh mid-winter pow. Watch out for wind loaded slopes. Saw a few little avy's triggered by riders. They were small, but you never know.

Where is the parking at right now?

If you go past the turn around that's a mile or so past the snow park, to the sign where grooming starts, you'll have to unhitch if you don't have a sled deck. We parked just before the obvious turn around and did have to ride some gravel, not too bad though. 100 yards total, maybe a little more?

Good times, wish I was there today instead of work!

yeah i was up yesterday from 8am to 630pm we tied down an extra 18 gallons on our sled.it was the best day of the year.

Curious how it was on Saturday? Went to Gallagher and the snow wasn't nearly as good as Baker last Wed, even at the same elevations.

Come on old man winter. Wake up!! We need some fresh stuff.

the weather was great, but the snow had a crust layer on top w/ 8" of soft(er) below, then another crust layer. very few areas were not all tracked-out
