Finally, as reported yesterday a very large natural slab...with an estimated crown of 15 ft...released early Thursday morning from Shuksan Arm to the east of the Mt Baker skie area. The fracture line propagated a long distance along the ridge and ran toward the base of Chair 8 (Shuksan Arm Chair), destroying a tree buffer of 2ft + diameter trees before coming to rest just within the lower part of a closed run. Fortunately, due to this event, other large and unusual avalanches within the ski area, high winds, other deteriorating weather related events (road closure due to downed trees), and extreme avalanche danger in the BC, the ski area did not open and no injuries resulted. I was wrong holy sh*t!
