Bag on XP tunnel ?????

Is it ok to attach your gas can and bag so that it sits directly on top of the tunnel and coolant lines on the XP? Some racks I've seen are designed to raise your gear off of the tunnel. Is this necessary? Thanks Loren

the bag is ok but not the can---holz or doo :eek:make racks that keep it off the tunnel--

Thanks, will the coolant lines melt the plastic tank?

I doubt it gets that hot, to melt the plastic. I'm a little confused on this one, my Ski doo gas caddy sits right on my tunnel tucked up underneath my Boss Hardtail seat, on my 06 Summit X 151", and I havn't had any problems. It seems to me that since the new XP chassis came out a lot of these tunnel racks are now elevating the gas caddy up off the tunnel. I know on all of the Rev chassis I've seen the gas caddy sat right on the tunnel just like mine. Maybe there is something different on the new XP tunnel that I'm not aware of.

The biggest reason that I see is to have a flat surface to mount the gas can on. I bought a vmi rack that came with 5 crossbars. I planned on just mounting my bag in the back on the heat exchanger. I found that my bag froze to the tunnel and made everything in the bag wet from condensation. I bought more rods for the back to keep the bag off the heat exchanger and it is much better.

I have a vmi rack and it works great. I bought a rod for every bottom hole to support my gas can and bag. I found that my bag on the back of the tunnel made the engine run a little hot. After I added the rack, air can move between the tunnel and the bag and the engine runs cooler.
