There was a group of sledders at the first Y at Greenwater past the Snowpark.

The sledder stopped to make sure everything was good with the group.

suddenly flames licked up below the handle bars. He jumped off leaving the sled with his car keys and all his personal affects.

The sled burned to the ground nothing but rubble. The shocks blew up and the springs were thrown to the side of the trail.

about the only thing left intact was the muffler and the motor. everything else was melted into small pieces.

We after a little poking with a shovel was able to find of lump of aluminum with a ring of keys melted into it. fortunatly the truck key was not melted into the aluminum lump. with some scraping he should be able to use it to get home.

oh yes back to the muffpot it was intact and I had hoped that the burritos were hot and edible. Unfortunatly they were hard carbon tin foil crusted lumps.

So I don't think I will heat my muff pot this way.

watch out for the branches in the middle of the trail over a black lump. There is not enough solid pieces to tow out. so for now its still sitting there 1:30PM

THAT Sucks! Hope you had full insurance coverage!

That seems to happen often at greenwater. If they are looking for a good sled for cheap i may have one. Things dont seam to be working out.

2007 skidoo

it was a 2007 800 skidoo. apparently it was fully insured. I told the owner that I was sorry that his sled burned down, but the bright side is he gets to buy a new sled.

Someone else asked him if his brake was on but he said it wasn't.

They called the insurance carrier and the forest service, hopefully that wreck will be taken out of there soon. About the only part worth saving was the muffpot. The chain case melted and parts off the clutch.
it probably could be put in a large garbage can the sled was that destroyed.

Hey guys.
Man that sucks, At what point do you try and throw snow on it to put it out, or is it even worth trying, and I have never thought about carrying a small fire extinguisher. Damn.

It's down at the forest service office now,

I got a call yesterday afternoon from the LEM in the area, He wanted to know if we'd help him get it out. Sure, no problem grabbed the jeep and a small trailer and went up and scooped it up. Man, that thing burned to the ground, just a small metal glob left, loaded it up on the trailer in pieces and dropped it off at the forest service office in enumclaw. It was right in the middle of the 70 road only a mile or two out of the snopark,

Man that sucks. Has that thing happen to my 04 800 rev 5 years ago. Stop to wait for the group then flames started coming out from under the handlebars. Burned down to the ground. Nothing left but the motor and half a ski.

Wow that totally sucks! I have to say i had a sled a few yrs ago cook off when my nephew was riding with the brake locked on! Melted the oil tank and was blazing away
I got the fire out with tons of snow to smother it out but i will have to say a fire that close to 11 gallons of gas i probably would let it just burn down if i had to do it again i was scared Chitless!! but had a sled to sell as a part sled!

I imagine the insurance factor dictates how frantically one tries to snuff out the fire. Hehehe
Glad no one got injured.
Sled insurance is cheap and worth it, guys. I've had to file on a totalled sled. Thank god for ins.

speaking of insurance...who do you guys use to insure your sleds? and what kind of premiums do you pay?
