bad Wahl drivers

Anyone have issues with Wahl drivers being poorly molded? I swapped out the stock MTX drivers for Wahls. Using 3" pitch drivers with a 150 camo extreme (3" pitch) and the drivers are not working right. I'll try and explain as best as possible. As you rotate the track, the driver lugs slowly creep forward of the track nubs about 1/8" per lug until the driver lugs are soon hitting the backside of the nubs and jump the track. The timing marks are lined up, they rolled fine on the floor, doesn't matter if the track is loose or super tight. Only thing I can think of is the drivers were molded a little bigger than they should be.

Pretty sure this has been a problem with the Wahls ever since they started making their 3" pitch drivers. CNCed Avids are the way to go.

Well, that sucks. Here are some good pics to show exactly what I'm talking about. You can see how in the pics they start in the right spot but after a few revolutions(of the driver) end up between the drive lugs and then finally at the back of the drive lug.

In the right spot...

In between them

And finally at the back of the drive lug

wow, that sucks. Now ya gotta take it ball back apart when ya could be riding

mine have done the same thing until they were completly destroyed and start ratcheting with the Extreme. Lasted 500 km. Swapped to Avid CNC, 2000 km later no sign of wear.

IF you continue running them, the tip will split in 2 or blow and fold backward. And you will start ratcheting, and more you will need to tighten the track.

I had the same problem with my 7's. They were junk! What really sucks is when you go to drag the sled off the deck and the drivers go the other way and stab into the clips locking the track. I also run a sled with the 8 tooth 3'' Pitch Wahls and they seem to work fine but the 7's are messed up. Wahl bros should have some kind of exchange program on those 7's.

My Apex last winter took the tips off also and started ratcheting. My other sled has Avid's and is starting the third season on them.:beer;

let the break in

I had those 7 tooth on my rx with the extreme track. I was told that they had to break in and to run the track a little tighter. They do wear themselves in and the noise goes away.

Still a bad design

I have only had my sled out once with them and it sounds like I have the same problem. But my other sled with them works great. I will nedd to take a look see......................SRXtreme

Mountain Magic out of Edmonton have some real nice drivers. cnc'd
