Bad gas cap on 2015

Has anyone else had a gas cap that does not vent .My first ride today on my new 15 RMK 163, I noticed the gas tank sucked in about an inch on each side. When I tried to remove the cap it was so tight I broke the top off.A big rush of air went in when I broke the seal. The tank is still partially bowed in.First bad oil caps now fuel caps.

Unless they changed something on the '15's the fuel tank is not vented thru the cap but has a separate clear hose that goes into the over structure. I'd be looking to see if that vent line is pinched off between the tank fitting and the end of the hose.

What LH said...

The Fuel tank has a Kelch brand rollover-vent-valve on it.

If the vent line is NOT pinched or blocked.... Then you probably have a defective vent valve. If so the tank needs to be replaced under warranty.

The valve is not available separately through Polaris.

Make sure that it is understood in your conversations with your dealer, that the cap was damaged BECAUSE of the issue.... regardless of wether it was a pinched line or a faulty valve.

My buddy was experiencing this yesterday with his 15 free ride 154", so its not just a poo problem :) he said it was bogging on him, opened the gas cap and a big rush of air came out, just like you described.

When I took the hood off mine I found the tank vent pinched. It sucked in alot of air when I straightened it out. I bet yours is routed the same way. I rerouted mine

If you "fix" it before the dealer sees it... you will prob not get the fuel cap covered by the warranty.

Thanks Mountain horse I figured it was just the cap.I will be contacting the dealer asap when they open. After the huge launary list of issues my 14 had I'm hoping this is an isolated issue on my hybrid RMK. At least it never bogged and ran good , sled has 56 miles on it.
