bad cell reception

I usually have around one bar at my house which is annoying. I am getting an external antenna, but does anyone know any other ideas to solve the problem. also does anyone have input on the repeaters if they work good enough to be worth the price??

Find the tower that serves your area, climb it and angle the antenna in a better direction to cover your house.....just don't get caught ;):beer;

t-mobile at home is what I ended up doing.

perfect signal in the house and yard...well as long as my internet is working.

it was few bars on my cell before the antenna tower and after they sat the tower near my home, my cell got full of bars.

around here there is one tower in the bigger towns and after you get 10 miles out of that town your screwed, when we had the bag phones you could get service 30 miles out of town anyway:mad::mad:

Imagine what the cell service is like 70 miles west of you. My cell phone is pretty much worthless over here. Frustrating because they just put up a new cell tower about 1/2 mile north of town, and they haven't turned it on or something because I can see the darn thing out my office window and both my verizon and alltel work cell phones don't have any service aside from 1 bar each, both on roaming.

If you have a good amount of property and it meets the criteria, you can apply to have a tower put on your land, I believe Verizon has a form online for this. Pays pretty good too. Get a tower up and then more service providers can use the same tower and you get even more $$.....and a good signal. ;):beer;

Magic Jack. 19.95 per year with unlimited long distance free, works through the internet. I put it on the computer in the office so my wife won't tie up the business line. I also take it with me and plug it into my laptop and have phone service anywhere I have internet access. Swampy:D:D

internet is only good where there is cable in my experience, so back to big city or nothin

Must be line of sight to the antenna. Any physical barriers to line of sight will hurt your cell signal. Find out if any of your friends have phones that work better at your place. I have seen examples of two phones on the same network with completely different characteristics in the same location. LG is often a very good phone for actual reception.

Metal siding/roof, stucco on wire mesh, and low-E window glass will also have a serious effect on getting signal from inside a house.

Low_E, energy saving glass works good for heat loss,,but the atoms-thin metalized layer between the double panes of glass is a unintended consequence on RF signals of the energy saving.

Other TV, and Radio signals may be affected likewize on indoor antennas , An external antenna system, would be needed.

(My $1.98 , thats $0.02 with 0bama tax added.)
