Backcountry spare parts, tools, ETC

So what do you guys and gals carry when you venture into the backcountry. I’m talking spare parts, tools, ETC

No I’m not trying to make fun of the skidoo guys:eek:. Seriously, if you spend any time riding your going to have some sort of difficulty at some point. Face it these things will breakdown no matter what color they are.

Barring any sort of machine specific tools this is what I carry.

Tools

-Vice Grips
-Universal Screwdriver (multiple tips)
-Channel Locks
-Spark Plug Socket
-A few open end wrenches
-Flashlight
-Multi tool
-Ratchet type tie down ( This can be wrapped around the clutch for emergency starting !)
-Avalanche type collapsible aluminum shovel

Parts

-Spare hose clamps
-Spare fuel line
-spare mechanical fuel pump (I kept my old one which worked)
-Spare Qt. oil
-Spare Qt. 50/50 Anti freeze
-Spare belt under the hood
-Set of pre gapped plugs
-Zip ties

I need to add Duct Tape, and some sort of bailing wire. I’m sure I forgot something ?

Duct tape & bailing wire is a must under tools. I won't carry antifreeze. Can melt snow for water if needed. I also carry a allen wrench folding set. Shovel is a part of the safety / survival equipment list. I also carry a small (6ft) pc of picture hanging wire. Great for fixing throttle or oiler cable in a pinch. I carry just enough tools to make emergency repairs

I also carry a handful of the most common nuts, bolts and washers just in case.on the older edge chassis we used to carry a spare heim joint and upper and lower radius rods(taped or wire tied to a hose under hood) just in case you hit something.......tool wise most all the new sleds use torx so a set of torx bits for the screwdriver handle(can also be used with a 1/4 wrench on tighter things)we also carry a pint bottle of chaincase oil (taped shut and wedged in underhood where it is out of the way)..hose clamps we carry 6-8 medium sized ones that will screw down to a small size or be hooked togeather for bigger diameters..have used them with a couple of sticks to straighten and clamp a busted trailing arm before...(just screw them up snug on an out of the way hose underhood and they are there when you need them..lots of other little tricks as well...small roll of duct tape is handy for lots of things including closing vents on deep pow days..securing broken plastic, fixing a leaking hose....

Hey Mike shouldn't you be out modding the ol' dragon so you can keep up with the kids this year? Get in your wheelchair and get at it!!!

I carry a lot fewer tools in the truck now that I'm on a Yamaha..
No tool bag, tool box, and 100 pc socket set each time I go anymore! :P

But I still carry the same stuff on the sled.

Duct Tape
Wire
Electrical Tape
Zip Ties
Stock Tool Kit
Leatherman
Rope
Some misc allen wrenches for the lefty..

think thats everything. Basically we can rig almost anything to get it out except for major failures, sled has tools to take anything apart that doesn't rivet on on it so we don't have to take tools back in on a retrieval mission. Can take it apart on the hill incase it has to be left so its doesn't get stripped of some of the expensive stuff.
At the truck I keep a spare top end, spare fuel cap (its like 3am when we're fueling up sometimes, I've fogotten to pu the cap on before and drove away). Spare coil, airshock pump, enough gaskets to rebuild the whole sled, motor mounts, fuel pumps, more belts, spare sled, Numerous nuts and bolts, gears and another chain, spare primary clutch, rest of the clutch tools, about anything else I can fit. Can never be too prepared. I also have my 1200 drilled so that my escapes skid will bolt right in if something were to happen to my m-10, the LA slides look suspect to me...
That enough for ya?
