just got back froma week long trip visiting fam down in southern Louisiana and took a chit load of pics so i figured i would share them you guys. down on the coast where i was fishing most of the time around Hackberry and Cameron, these towns were totally devistated and in some cases totally washed away from the tidal surge(sp?). they have cleaned alot of it up and started rebuilding but there are still boats cars and trailer houses strung all through out the marshes. fishing was good and weather couldnt have been better. it has been 6 years since i had been down there so it was nice to get back home to see friends and family.

this red fish was worth a brand new pickup and a boat! CCA (coastal Conservation ***.) puts on a big fishing tourney every year that lasts from mid may till sept. and they tag different species of fish. if you catch one with a tag you can win BIG prizes and my relatives were doing all the tagging so i cought this red fish and they tagged it and it was the grand prize fish. i should have gotten them to tag it and kept it in the live well until the next day when it started!

looks like a good time for sure. ive always wanted to take a trip down there but never had the time to do it

Are all of the boats/ships junk now? Seems like they could be salvaged somehow? Is everything inside of them junk like the motors? I know the drive systems would all have to be replaced, but it seems like the motors and equipment should still work. Seems like a total shame to just let them sit and rot.

they are only good for scrap iron. they all got salt water in everything from the huricane and they just cut them up, put them on a barge and send them down the road. purdy much everything is trashed:face-icon-small-sad. that salt water is hard on stuff!

too far from snow for me, place looks like a scrap iron yard??

the jack up drillin rigs are used all over the shallow waters of the gulf

where those ships are they will be getting scraped out. they were just sitting out in the marsh after the storm but they wenched winched or however u spell it back into the intercostal canals and took them there. i guess out in some of the bigger lakes there are big tanks, cars and trailer houses sitting just under the surface and people have been hittin them.

i love louisiana but.....there are too many foreigners, and ever since obama got voted in all the blacks have been on a VERY high horse. they use to be friendly folks but now southern hospitality is out the window.... and its too dam hot and humid and WAY TOO FAR from snow!

I didn't see that gator belly up in your boat yet man. GET ON IT.

And where are the Hooters girls?

Nice pics. I went to Lafayette, Louisiana about 10 years ago. Completely different world. I had never been out of montana, so dealing with 75 degrees and 90 percent humidity in december was weird. Went to a semi pro hockey game (Louisiana Ice Gators) fun for sure.
