Back Pressure and Turbo Spool Up Time

Hey Guys,

I am wondering about back pressure and spool up time. In my case I am referring to vein pitch using an aerocharger turbo. This would be considered pre-turbo (I believe) back pressure. From what I gather if I was to 'open' the pitch setting on my veins by adjusting the boost controller I would create less back pressure pre turbo and thus spool up time would be faster. If I was to 'close' the pitch setting on my veins this would create more back pressure and thus spool time would be slower.

Does this sound correct? Anyone have any experience with this?

Unfortionataly it would be the opposite. with the viens open yes you have less back pressure but therer is less work being done to turn the compressor(more bypassing). The engine may respond quicker but will not make boost as quick. It is a real balance to get it at the right spot.

If memory serves me correct, I'm running at 1 1/2 turns in from 0. I like having the boost come on sooner for a more liner pull, which for me is more useable in tree ridding.

So with the veins open more than the 'base setup' the boost comes on sooner and creates a more linear pull?

I guess I should be asking what you guys are using as a 'base'. I was told one 'blade' of the controller in either direction is all you would ever use for tuning? I am looking for a tree riding setup like you describe. The Turbo setup on the dragon says base is 2 turns, what are people using on the pro?

On the boost controller there is a adjusment bolt and jam nut. If you lossen the bolt untill there is no spring tension, this is what I think they refer to as the zero setting. From there srewing in, you should feel the adjusmet bolt engage the spring. From this "Zero setting is how I have counted my turns" I beleive that im at 1-1/2 turn in from the zero setting. I can't remeber exactly where it was at from aerocharger, but i know im losser (less turns in from zero) than aerocharger had it.
