AXYS RMK 146, Ready for snow

So after seeing the Polaris lineup from Polaris did not include a true RMK 146 but rather a reworked SBA that was more Rush than RMK I made the decision to modify an Axys RMK into the sled I wanted. So I reached out to BM Fabrications and we worked together on the project. The guys at BM are pretty much the only company I trusted to cut the back end off a 12K sled and have the finished project look like it came from the factory that way.

So many will ask why a 146" sled, I would like a sled that is off trail capable with the egro's of my RMK's, lightweight and nimble for technical riding and jumping where a 155" is just too long or overkill.

Ill spare a lot of the details and the painstaking care that went into creating this and show what everyone wants to see... pictures.

So the plan is/was simple:
Chop 9" of track/tunnel
Give it rails that wont fold under abuse
Suspension that can be ridden to high levels of torture
More HP
Less weight
Lower rolling resistance
Stronger driveline

So Just a few Companies that helped on this build and they deserve a ton of credit for this projects success:

BM Fabrications, they are a team that prides itself in perfection in all they do. This tunnel looks FACTORY and the boards and bumpers will surely stand up to the hard life ahead
TKI, a belt drive that works backed up by a stellar team committed to snowmobilers
Rehab Wraps, Jesse is a true talent when it comes to taking rough ideas and refining them to something extraordinary
Indy Specialty, engines and clutch components that work, thanks for humoring my craziness.
Exit/ZBroz for the sweet shocks
ICEAGE for the custom built rails

Very cool build keep us updated when the snow hits. I'd love to have a 146 sitting next to my 155, you'd think Polaris would catch on by now.

I like it. I think an aftermarket bumper would help clean up the end of the tunnel.

I looked at this sled at Haydays and that was the only part I thought looked unfinished. With the B&M Front bumper and boards it really would finish off nice with their rear bumper. Otherwise it was a sharp looking sled and should be a blast to ride!

Sweet sled. Tell us more about your drivers...

Indy Specialty True Pitch Roller driver with the 4 drive set up. Less rolling resistance and more HP to the ground.

The bumper was intentionally left stock for Haydays... It was done that way so your eye would naturally be drawn to the stock bumper. Cant tell you how many people noticed the bumper first, THEN realized it was a 146 or it had to be pointed out that it was shortened. The Sled will be wearing the new style BM FAB rear bumper before it gets ridden, just didn't want to hide all the craftiness that went into the sled.

You mean lots of people missed the giant 146 on the rear of the tunnel? LOL

It was the 146 on the tunnel that made me walk over to it to check it out.

Surprisingly yes.... lots of people missed it, LOTS. Guys were standing there talking about it for a good 5 minutes before they were like, holy crap, you cut 9" off this thing? My reply was yeah, thats what the 146" means...

I think people missed it because most assumed Polaris already produced a 146" model RMK. The best one was a guy who thought it was an SBA at first. As he realized what it was the lights came on and he was pretty stoked about it.

There were a few guys from Roseau that stopped by to check it out. I got the grilling on why 146" vs 144" and my answer was simply track choices were much more prevalant on the 146" than 144".

Wait, I missed the 9" thing before. Don't you mean you cut 4.5" off the tunnel to make it a 146?

You did a great job but it is funny how regional something like this must be because in Western Canada it there is very little demand for anything under 154". Sleds under that length are like unicorns in the mountains, your told they exist but you never see them.

I dunno, for the amount of times I get to ride, and the places I ride, I'd do a 144/146 as my second sled. Be fun to have a ripper like that when the snow is set up around here. Nicely done!!:face-icon-small-hap

I tried the same thing with my 12 assault. Took 5 inch out of tunnel. Ice age bomber rails. I found the ce2.5 trenches too much in a 146 length.
Rode it one year like that then went back to a 155 on it.
They are fun length to run though. Nice looking project.
