Axys Revs Higher at half throttle than it does at WOT

Been on Snow West for a while now, but this is my first post because I'm stumped. So as the Title says my 163 3" Axys revs to and will hold 8400 at approximately half throttle, however when squeezing the throttle down to the bars it will drop down to 8100-8200. Has anyone else noticed this with their sled? I'm running an SLP can, 10-62 weights, and the rest is bone stock. I just had it into my dealership to have them hook the digital wrench up to it, it wasn't throwing any codes, the TPS voltage was at .947 according to the DW (haven't checked it the manual way). I have a new (broken in)belt on it, clutch springs are in good shape, and have brand new rollers in the primary. Any help with this would be appreciated.

No way you should be able to pull 8400 at half throttle unless your running it with the track off the ground or your weights are far too light for elevation.

I noticed it on the trail (around 8000 ft) on my way back from my last ride at around 9000-10500 ft. I had been fighting Low RPM's for the last month so I went from 64's down to 62's trying to bring them back up. Part of the low RPMs was from bad rollers and a belt with around 5-600 miles, both were replaced before the last ride.

Have you tried running heavier weights? What elevation?

I haven't tried that yet, I went to the 62 gr weights from 64s trying to fix a low RPM problem that I've had for the last month. dealership replaced bad rollers in the primary, and I replaced an old belt that fixed that issue hopefully.

When I was running the 64gr weights and peaking at about 8200 rpm I would notice that when I would throttle up from 80% to 100% WOT it would sound deeper but not pull any harder.

Mine did the same thing! Pulled more rpm's up to about 80% and fell off at wot. Did my own pipe mod and problem solved, they must be really fat at wot!

Same here. Put the Carls helix on that "loads the motor more to keep the pipe hot" and i have continual power till the flipper is to the handlebar :)

I tried lighter clutching and hit what people are calling "the soft limiter" it sounds like the ecm is pulling fuel (not like rich) and the motor gets a deep tone to it like you are running out of gas but throttle bodies are open getting air.

Let out and it comes back alive. I expect the rollers were your first problem but now they are fixed you need the heavier weights back.

I completely agree with that, this pipe works better when hot! I've tried a few different helix's and it keeps getting better!

Before i changed to their helix, i talked to Jack on several occasions about this and he told me every time to give the new helix a try, that it had been thoroughly tested and worked very well. Honestly i did not fully believe him, but wanted to solve the problem, or at least prove to myself that this wasn't the issue. Put the helix on and the problem went away - completely! I should have known . . . he knows his stuff!! :)

What altitude do you ride? I do most of my riding at 10,000 very few seem to test at that altitude. On my next trip I'm going to try a 56-40.36 and a 56-38.36, thinking that a 38 degree maybe a better finish angle at 10,000 ft. also going to try a heavier heel with less tip weight. And yes I agree that Jack knows his stuff!

We ride mostly between 7k and 8k feet, so your requirements might be a bit different. Maybe give Jack a call at carls - 208-853-5550- he may know the best finish angle for you at that elevation.

I notice the same exact issue with mine in flat land and on the trail. 3/4 throttle I can see 8350, full throttle it'll drop to 8100. I'm running 70s around 800ft

You might also want to try a 60/38 angled helix, it will pull it.

Might sound crazy, but try running even more weight. My 163 x 3 likes 66.4 grams, and will pull 8400 rpm all day in deep powder climbs at 9,000 to 11,000 feet. Bikeman pink spring, gold star weights at 66.4 grams, and a bone stock secondary other than 1 delrin washer. These sleds like a hot pipe and lots of weight...nothing like a pro to clutch.
