Axys Clutch Offset & Alignment

What are you guys getting for offset and alignment from the factory on these sleds? I attempted to set offset on 3 sleds last night using what I used on the Pro, an SLP 20-191 bar and set to TRS recommendation of 0.100" gap at the front of the secondary. Post #40: http://www.snowest.com/forum/showthread.php?t=331118&highlight=20-191&page=2

All 3 sleds were in between 0.260" - 0.270".

I took a look at the service manual this morning and see that the Axys Chassis has the secondary 0.100" further inboard than previous chassis. There is a new alignment bar to replace the LWT that was used on the Pro Ride and prior. I also see Polaris made provisions to adjust alignment. NICE!

What gives? Has anyone played with their offset and alignment? Anyone know why they moved the secondary 0.100" inboard? These are the same exact clutches as the Pro-Ride.

The angle on the primary faces is different on the Axys vs the Pro Ride. Maybe that it the reason?

On my Axys I had to add a thin shim behind the secondary. I can't remember the measurements, but it was the thinnest of the three shim thicknesses that Polaris offers.

After shimming, the rear of the alignment bar just touches the secondary, and the is a very small gap on the front of the secondary.

I also checked my belt to sheave clearance on the primary and there was a huge gap on s new Polaris belt. I sent my clutch do Indy Dan to have the belt to sheave clearance adjusted and to have it balanced as well.

That would make the most sense why the alignment bar has changed.

But I've used the older Polaris alignment bar on refaced (IndyDan/Carls)primaries without issue which I thought was supposed to be the same angle of the Axys primary's?

I watched my dealer set my offset, when they were doing the pdi. It was fine from the factory. But my center to center is a bit short. Also my belt to sheave clearance was way way to tight. I also had indy (dan) specialies balance and fix the sheave clearance. I'm also running his clutch kit this year.

Is there a center to center distance for the two clutches on the axys? If there is would someone post it. Thank you.:)

Also someone mentioned in the 17's the motor mounting may now allow it to square up the motor. Can anyone answer that?

You talking about alignment? Yeah its shown there in the last image of the service manual. MAG side mounts are adjustable to get alignment within spec. 16's and 17's are the same as well.

For center to center alignment the tool that Polaris actually calls to use will not work with the RMK. It will work for the switchback/rush sleds but it is not long enough to capture the backside of the secondary clutch. Also it is not available to the general public!

We spent some serious time developing a tool that is designed for all axys sleds. it has all the specs engraved on it. here's the link if anyone is interested. message me if you'd like any additional info.

Anyone have any information on what measurement to use with the SLP 20-191 bar? Sled was at .270. I set it to .200. Blew a belt into a million pieces the next ride....

would this tool work if I put a tied secondary back on my axys?
