Axys boondocker sidekick issues

I went up with a friend today to break in new sleds. He has a new holdover 16 axys with a sidekick turbo. The sled would not idle for more than about 10 seconds and would die. It ended up fouling a set of plugs at about 5 miles. It seemed to run ok on the top end other than detonation sensor going off and not pulling full rpm. I am guessing the low rpm was because of detonation. It was really really rich at idle and low rpm.The sled was set in ethanol mode running straight 91 octane non ethonal fuel. We unloaded at about 4500 ft and we're riding front 6000 to 7000 ft. Has anyone had these issues yet that can maybe shed some light on what the problem may be.

16 snow check axys no turbo would start hard or not at all when cold. Took it in to dealer twice to get baseline TPS set right, have not had a problem since.

I am not sure how det sensor would affect idle, but I am curious if any one has successfully run a pump gas turbo on pump gas. Everyone I have ridden with over the last three years running a pump gas turbo has had to run 10% 110 in order to keep the det sensor happy. Can they be set up to run without any issues on pump gas. I realize the turbo manufacturers use this in their sales pitch, but I am curious if it can actually be done on 91.

I do believe he will have to mix gas to keep from detonation but the main issue is being so rich on the bottom end and at idle that it will hardly run. This is the first boondocker kit I have been around and am not impressed so far. I have another riding partner that has the same sled with the same kit, he has not had it out yet. I will be curious to see if it does the same. Hopefully it is something simple like the tps but highly doubtful. This kit was professionally installed so I believe he has already contacted them with the issues. I was just reaching out to my fellow snowest members to see if there is some common problem that can be easily fixed.

Are you running lots of mixed oil in the fuel tank? They were fouling plugs stock in the break in mode if any extra oil was added to the tank last year.

He told me the dealer did not put oil in the gas the first tank. I do not want to really mention the dealer right now because I don't want this to become a bash fest.

Was the ECU reflashed to 17 software and mapping? Idk if it would make a huge difference or not but I was told to take mine in and have it done before I installed. I have not had mine out yet, but it idols in my shed. ?

i would bet that this problem will go away after you run a tank of gas through it.

these sleds drink oil on break in. I have heard of plugs fouling with or without oil in the tank. but I would bet donuts to dollars the that the guys in the turbo section can figure it out but if I hade to guess it would be a combo of to much oil and inadequate fuel quality/ octane . with out knowing -boost- and riding temp{the sleds stock mapping goes south if its to warm out} its just a shot in the dark just my 0.02

I have a pile of buddies that ran Sidekicks. Every indication is the 17 runs better than the 16 if that's possible.

I would guess it's a sled issue. It's possible there is a kit issue. Things you can do:

• TPS-that would be first thing I check
• your still on break in. Keep patient. Eventhough I don't necessarily think that's what it is
• DET sensor - have you torqued it to proper specs?
• Fuel pressure - make sure it's correct.

The other thing is maybe you got a bad Sidekick box. It could happen. You might want to call Pete @BD too.
