Axys a Step Back on the Course?

Axys has been a fun back country sled this year but it's sure been a let down at the RMSHA hillclimbs, especially since we've watched pros dominate the podium for the last 5 years more completely than any make/model had in the past. With Arctic Cat and Ski Doo not really changing sleds in '16 races, and consistently placing on the podium it would infer that Polaris took a significant step back in the handling class. I own an Axys, a Pro, and a Dragon and my dream sled would be Boondocker'd Axys motor and Axys 2.6 track on a Pro-Ride chassis with the Fox Floats. Pro takes more effort to ride than Axys but is far more precise. Take sponsor money out of the equation and I'd wager the top Polaris riders would go retro?

You would be going backwards. The raised chassis might bother them but I doubt it. Coincidence. I'll ask my buddy.

The Pro has a very stable feeling u can be more relaxed or lazy while riding it. The Axys is much more like a Proclimb, if ur relaxed or lazy the sled is gonna take u for a ride but if ur quick and aggressive u will have fun and take that sled more places than the pro is capable of.
It really depends on the rider, which sled u can take more places but the Axys is a more capable sled for sure.

Last I saw on FB, it looks like KC is killing it. But as others said, the Axys is really loose, it's probably not the ideal hill climber, it will move around a lot. Setup is key, get it stiff and wide. I imagine the Assault version will be better.

My thoughts exactly

First year new chassis they'll have them back on top by next year.

Arctic cat wasn't dominating anything in 2012 with the release of the pro climb. And I'm sure ski doo wasn't when the xm came out.

Keith Curtis is still winning the 600 classes and the only thing that changed is the chassis not the motor on those sleds.

KC won one of the classes with a highmark which he admits is rare. The hill is kicking arse.

By the way, I wonder how the G4 850 will fit into the hill climbs. Can't be in the 800 stock class. It could be a 900 class if there is one or it will be used in open.

850 will have to go to the 1000 class I would guess.

How does that all work. There is a 700 and 1000 class. How do they fill them?

I have to agree that the Pro's were much more dominant when you take a look at the hillclimb results over the last few seasons. I may be one of the few who is not overly excited about updating based on what I've seen out recreational riding. They appear to be an equal at best as far as putting power to the track, I've rode and competed with dozens over the course of the last 4 months and haven't seen much to get cranked up about. It could be that there is something to the higher CG making it difficult in the mogul mashing world of hillclimbs.

I guess if you are racing it might not be a huge upgrade. But back country riding, the axys is hands down better.

This is all one reason why I think the Assault should be more unique and not just a wider version of the Axys. Maybe Polaris is concerned that they won't sell enough then. But a more stable platform might be preferred for hill climbing.

700 class is for anything less than 700. Guys can race old 670's, 600's, 700 from a few years back, etc.

In the backcountry the AXYS is FOR SURE hands-down easier to ride than the Pro Ride.

I've jumped back and forth so many times in the past 14 months that I hate getting off the Axys and back on my Pro while on the mountain.

It's just crazy how much easier it is to ride.

My Axys handles so much better than my Pro that it is really a paradigm shift rather than an upgrade. It also kills my Pro in engine performance. It gets on the snow easier and quicker. It does get a little getting used to like any new sled. Once you do, it will eat a comparably set up Pro for lunch without any indigestion.

Its funny i'm 220# and my axys dominates all the guys on pro's i ride with and they are 140-170#.

I hop on a pro and cant wait to get off the slow heavy turd.......
Its not even close.

Its definitely more noticeable in the steep and deep.
Maybe you were riding crappy snow?

^^^^ scott pretty much sums up the agony of hopping on a pro.
(I owned an 11 and a 13)
