Training is important, yes. We all as sledders understand the inherent risks involved in riding the mountains, and unfortunately, avalanches are one thing we can't control. We can do everything we can to minimize the risk, but it is still always there. I never met Dennis, but it sounds like I would have liked him. It could have been any one of us in that situation. My heart goes out to his family and friends.

Training is important but too many ride thinking I've never seen this hill slide so it must be safe...bad way to think.

On the tribute to Dennis Leski on Facebook, Dennis's mom has asked if everyone could meet at the Casino in Squamish at 3PM for a "Sledders Parade" through Squamish.

There will also be a memorial ride for Dennis on Sunday.....details on where and when to follow.

So just wana say thnx to everyone for the thoughts and bite me to those who need to try to find wrong in things like this.if you know us we ride extreme knowing the risks and arnt new to the backcountry.hill dosnt normally slide but it did that day and proves any hill can anytime.its scary reality and just a risk we take..my bro was my hero, king of the hill in these parts and tuff as steal..i cant believe the hill but at least he left us doing what he loved...i dont know if a quicker find woulda saved him yet but this is a obvious issue we need to learn from...if you have a beacon.make f....n sure you know how to use it..have it accessible quickly..you may mean well and wana help but if you dont clue in what to do with your beacon your making the search not possible and wrecking any chance those who know how to find there friend....rip big bro
