Avy Info.

a dozen more turns

wow, this should be required view for anyone who goes into the back country.all the fun your having can turn deadly in a split second.sam brought up great points as in if one in the group have reservations about a plan ,no one goes.make plans and stick to them.also prayers go out to the families who lost loved ones in the excelsior avalanche at baker.

good vid, but scares the **** out of me how they were so experienced and knowledgeable and still had problems. Need to get the knowledge and info to recognize these problem areas. I don't currently have good enough info to determine if the slope is avay prone.......

That video is awesome makes some amazing points at the end of it. If its a situation that is a 50/50 walk away from it. All the avys this week really is sad. The reason I even found out about this forum was because of an avy caused death last year on new years. First time I got on was to read the msg a forums members father posted after his son was killed while riding with us. Everytime I see a post about an avy all the emotions from that day come flooding back to me.

Just thought with all the talk on here recently, people might want to take a look at these. One is a video and one is an online educational course.
Props to Catwoman, as I borrowed these from her.

Thanks again Catwoman!

Yes... Well worth the download.

Yes, Sam does make a very important point. One of the biggest issues/problems is the human element. Just because you want to go bigger, or hit that pow, or that hill, it doesn't mean it is the right thing to do. They KNEW it was unsafe, and got caught up in wanting more and more, instead of doing what they knew to be right to protect their lives.

If you are uncomfortable about something, speak up. If your group doesn't want to listen, then maybe it's time to find new riding buds.

My oldest son and Sam grew up together. Then they were college roommates. I was very happy when this video came out, as it is a wonderful teaching tool. Yes they were all experienced, but they ignored that experience, and pushing the limits proved to be costly. Hopefully others can learn from this, and live to ride another day.

Touching Video, Thank you for sharing.

awesome video. thanks for posting that. everyone needs to watch that. those with decades of experience riding and those with only days or weeks of experience riding.

Rode Snowy Range yesterday. Still lots of wind loaded slopes, AND STILL big hills with 3-4 people climbing at one time. Someone died up there earlier this week, and people are still making stupid choices.
How can we get the word to the clueless?
