To many people running around out there thinking they're safe because it's not as steep as Cooke City. 2' of new snow and now very windloaded.

About every steeper bowl we saw had slid previously and was loaded and ready to go again.

Go to Wyoming riding area to see pic's of avy on Fiberglass Hill that just about got one, very lucky young man. Buddy said no beacon!!???

Aieeyiiyii! Don't need to be seeing this kinda stuff.

Think smart, ride safely, have fun, come home under your own power.:beer;:)

Added pic's on this post, chunks of snow were huge, if he would have fallen off his sled and got ground up by these, it would have been a tragic ending to a beautiful calm, sunny day.

Darrel-is that shot of Burnt Mtn., to the north of Owens Creek?

Looks a lot like a bowl we play in, dropped into it right after x-mas, came down by the trees in the background of the pic's and half of the face of it came down behind me, luckily my boy was a ways back and sat and watched it. Wasn't a huge slide, but from what I read, 2-3 ft. gets heavy when your'e underneath it.

Is that just north of 14A and dumps down into a narrow gully? If so I saw it slide last year in March.

about 1 mile down burnt mtn road and 1/4 mile back toward bald mtn..

Packed an elk out of there this year. The bottom of that hill is littered with broken sled stuff when the snow is gone. Landed life flight there 6 or 8 years ago after a slide. Broken femor as I recall? We rode last wednesday and stuff is ready to slide, be careful!

i've seen the aftermath of a small natural slide a few years ago but nothing like the pics above. i can understand how it would slide though.
there IS a reason they call it fiberglass hill.....

Yep

Fiberglass slides most of the time at least 1x a year from what I can remember.

Have seen it (fiberglass) sitting in the bottom of that coulee many times....the one T/A has pictures of slides almost every time we drop in that little bowl.

and what would that be....

LOL...sounds like you may have left some of your busted parts hanging on the sign post at the bottom of that hill? That hill gets a lot of sun and it becomes pretty icy/bumpy climbing...lot's of sleds come a tumbling down.

Todd...... Guess, I was kind of being a tad bit sarcastic. A hill called fiberglass hill, you would think it would be a whole lot more difficult. The last little bit is pretty steep, but other than that, most of the time it is a cake walk. I cant see someone like yourself tumbling down that hill. Now since that it is what a 100 yds of the trail?? I can see it as a popular spot for "newbie's" to jump off and see what it is like to climb something, and end up in with a yard sale...

To answer your question, no, I havent left any debris. I have been up it numerous times. If I did have some carnage, I sure wouldnt leave it behind...:D

It is just right off Hwy 14 and it gets plenty of action by peeps. To be honest...I think one time riding with Summitone years ago on my 99rmk I climbed it and that's it, that's not the area we ride and Justin I was just giving you chit.....

Summtione and I have the exact same pictures of this hill sliding...it was a long time ago before digital cameras. Larry's brother in law was climbing it on his 670 and it slid and he rode it out right into the trees at the bottom. I bet it slides 2 to 3 times a year at least. That cornice just gets so wind blown and loaded at the top. It's fun if you stay by the west side (where it doesn't slide) and pin if from the bottom, you can get some decent air time. This is and old picture of me that Larry took and got scanned.

I saw the aftermath of a big slid up there a couple years ago and then knocked one down myself on it last year. It makes a pretty good slide. Definately not one to be hung up in.
