Anyone hear any news about the incident in the Big Holes today?

Yes, on the north side of Garns. A gentleman from Rexburg lost his life.

Who was it? My uncle was in a Avy on the north side of Garns 2 weeks ago. I ride that area all the time.

The son was on scene and called 911 the snowmobile was found but he could not locate his dad .There was no avy becon on scene, Teton county Idaho scrammbled a S.A.R. team with search dogs from Targhee ski patroll and called Jackson Hole S.A.R. to request assistance in use of there bird to fly the dog team direct to the scene. The party was recovered and C.P.R. was in progress to no avail.My thoughts and prayers go out to all the family members . And please be carefull out there as there were two other slides spotted in the bighole and teton ranges.

Scott Lieshman was the man that lost his life today. From rexburg idaho. Pray for the family! I lost a brother earlier this year and i have never been through something so hard in my life. so losing a father would be devastating.

Not sure about not having beacons etc. I rode with this father and son 2 weeks ago, and the rest of their family last weekend and they all had packs and beacons. Either way, we lost a great man in the community today. Remember the leishman family in your prayers. They are all passionate about this sport and are very seasoned backcountry riders.

Sad season for sure. Thoughts go out to all the families. That is the third snowmobile fatality this year in idaho and we still dont have that much snow. The snowpack is CRAZY this year. Please be careful and think about what you are doing. Im scared sh!tless that a weak layer is at the bottom of the snow pack. Ride safe.
