Avy Death

Tough one to hear about. Let's pat attention to the warnings and practice avoidance when there is a risk. God bless the family and friends.

This happened at Rock Lake near Cascade. He was buried under 5 feet of snow, head down with his machine on top of him.
He was not wearing a beacon.
Please heed the avalanche forecasts before you go.
Two feet of wet heavy snow on top of frozen ice crystals = disaster waiting to happen.
Be safe out there!

...its too early into the riding season to be seeing this.:( Dont let the warning go unnoticed.... BEACONS!

WTF???? My condolances to the family and firends, but how is anyone on the mountain without a beacon????? It makes no sense..

We are all thinking of the family members here. Remimber that being under 1 foot of snow is enough to do the job. So that means you don't have to be in big country to get buried.

Heart felt condolences to family and friends of the too young victim:(........ However I have to comment on a remark like this. "Don't let the warning go unnoticed...... BEACONS! If you intentionally go into an area where the danger is high and the warning is out there, wearing a beacon does not make the situation safe and IMO you are still intentionally letting the warning go "unnoticed". Staying off those slopes, beacon or no beacon is how you pay attention to the warning!

feel sorry for the family and friends.. lesson learned always have a beacon, you will never be found in time without one.
