Avy danger ratings

The forecast for the next couple of days are showing anything from considerable to extreme avalanche danger, depending on the area.
Lets all remember what the ratings actually mean...

Considerable: Natural avalanches possible, human caused avalanches probable in steep terrain. Think of this danger rating as almost high, more people are killed when the danger is at this level than at any other.

High: Natural and human caused avalanches are likely in a variety of aspects and slope angles. In this rating, the snow is just waiting for you to touch the right spot and trigger a slide. This rating is scary because of the inconsistency of releases. Just because you haven't seen any slides certainly doesn't mean they won't happen. Most of you can probably see some similarities between this and the last few days avy incidents.(Lots of folks saying they were caught by surprise)

Extreme: Wide spread natural and human caused avalanches are certain on most aspects and slope angles. In this rating, and especially given our current snow pack, large destructive slides are possible. This condition is no good to be out in, avy terrain will be cycling no matter what you do.

Take care out there...
