Avy Course by Zac's Tracs

So me and a couple of friends attended the Avy course put on by Zac's Tracs last week and I must say they put on a very good course. I've sledded in the mountains for quite some time now and I must say I was shocked to realize how much I didn't know about avalanche safety. I definately feel more confident about riding safely in the moutains now and also feel much better about my search and rescue techniques with my beacon. In my opinion anyone playing in the backcountry whether it be sledders or skiers, you should have an avalance course. Think about the people you ride with. If you were caught in an avalanche would you want someone who thinks they know what they are doing, or someone who has actaully taken the training. Having taken the course myself, the answer is a no brainer. TAKE A COURSE AND GET THE TRAINING. The life you save may be your friends.

Thanks

Thanks to everyone who took the AST course in the Kakwa Area and showed me around your playground. It's an awesome place! It was great to see so many people taking an avalanche course.

Also, thanks to all the guys who hosted us. The place was great and the hospitality was amazing.

Keep posting your observations in the forums. It really helps us in the forecast office.

I hope to see you all again next winter!

I agree was a really good time will do it again when they come back next year and have more friends come Thanks Brad

Nice pic...musta been a good tourist snapping pics out there. Just got back in from Kakwa yesterday, noticed that the upper shelf of Ian Munro slid, sled tracks going up to it (triggered) South east face right behind the cabin. Anyone know much about this one?
