Avy beacons???

I've got 2. One Mammut Barryvox Pulse, the other is Pieps dsp with the new sofware. Of the 2 I would recommend the Pieps for simplicity.:beer;

ya any monkey can figure out a tracker... or you could just put all the beer in your pack, just wait and see some people turn into bloodhounds when there hear that the only beer is with you :D

Pieps DSP is just about as easy to use as a tracker and has one of the longest signal ranges of any beacon out there, which is a damn good thing if you are buried far and deep from your friends

2nd the Tracker is very easy to use. I have an older model and just got my wife one, as she'll be getting more into the backcountry this year.
She figured out the basic search immediately, having never even seen one before.
Have more practice to do with her, but the tracker has a distance reading and lights that point you within a 90deg arc, so once in search mode, if you're getting closer in distance reading, stay within the lights, if getting farther away, turn 180 deg and then follow the lights. I'd reccomend it.

I have the SOS and they aren't as nice or friendly as the newer stuff but anything is better then nothing and whatever one you learn to use is the one you will do the best with.

I'm still waiting for my BCA Tracker X2 or something like that. It was supposed to be released last year but they held it back for more testing due to it's new stuff and I haven't heard a word yet other then it was to be out in October. It's a trick and very, very fast unit. I was testing one in Boise ID at the Snowmobile congress in June. It impressed me!

Regardless of what you end up getting just make sure you practice with it or no matter how easy it is it can still be useless if you dont know the ins and outs when its crunch time.
