Avy Apps for phones are DANGEROUS

Please read this article. When I saw this it made me sick to my stomach. I-phone apps are not a replacement for a beacon and real avy training.

"economical alternatives" Trying to save a buck or two on a alternative solution to a beacon that is proven, seems to be the last place to try to save. After all ur life may depend on it.

Unfortunately the only people who will be warned about the dangers of these apps are people who all ready know. eg. People who check the avalanche for cast, back country users on forums. I fear that people who use the back country once a year will fall victim to these ridiculous apps.

If someone shows up and pulls out there phone when asked about their beacon we're gonna have issues, and I've got an app for that! It's a shame that the people who make these apps will do so without regard for safety, but just the profit margin for themselves.

u would be its a potentionally a life threating app that has been proven ineffective, there would b a way of bannin the apps.
