Avoid "Edge Motorsports" in Draper

I think this is about the fourth owner of the power sports store in Draper, I've been into the store each time ownership changed...unfortunately the crappy service hasn't.

Same holier than thou attitude from the parts guys, sales guys who are too busy sitting on their *** to help a potential customer. And don't even try to find parts for anything they carry, they can order it, but they stock almost nothing. I'm not talking about 2-3 hundred dollar parts either, they don't even carry the most common fasteners on the M-series sleds.

In short, nothing has changed. This business will drive itself out of business in short time, I will continue to order parts on line and drive out of my way to Cutlers when I need parts ASAP.

Seems good dealers are harder and harder to come by. All the more reason to support those who take care of their customers.

Man I am sorry. I could have told you to stay away from them. They are a bunch of idiots. I dont know why any manufature would want them to be their dealer. They do not know how to treat a customer. Nothing has changed since I got my REV back in 04.

I actually have found a dealer I love...everyone here knows her as freeagent.

The prices can't be beat, the service is great, delivery is always prompt and she talks dirty:face-icon-small-ton. The ONLY time I look elsewhere is when its a single small part that would cost less than shipping or if it's something I need right now.

I would love to support a local dealer, but sadly none of them really want my business.

The edge is a far better dealership then it was in years past,..its easy to get all pissy and act like your 4 dollars is gonna feed someones family...get real man, dealers dont make chit off these sleds, this market is very very small and no one is getting rich, yet every sledder wants everything for free and he will travel to africa to save 7 dollars on a 11K sled...seems silly:face-icon-small-sho

maybe you should talk to management with your concerns or offer some suggestions with what a local business can do to better serve its community...or just hang out on the internet and cry about it

Haha.... I have been trying to talk her into buying a dealership down here.:D But so far no luck.:face-icon-small-sad

It would be nice to not have to drive to Orem or West Valley. If it weren't for sled stuff I would have 0 reasons to travel to either of those places. I'm in the same boat as you, Michelle typically gets all of my business.

It's too bad South Valley Motorsports isn't an AC dealer, I go to them for dirt bike stuff and they seem pretty good.

Those $4 parts turn to $400 upgrades very quickly if handled properly. Business 101 which so many people forget so quickly!

This is exactly the problem that most dealers have. I don't give a crap if it is only $4, it is important to me. It shouldn't matter what the cost of the part is, it's the service. When the service is good for small orders, I'm much more likely to order alot more parts again and again and again.

This is how Michelle at Oregon Trail Sports earned my business, she resolved an issue I had with Klim on gloves that I bought somewhere else. She had no obligation to help me at all, but she stepped up to the plate and helped me. She gave me customer service before I ever gave her a dollar.

Now she gets my business anytime I need parts, which is almost every week during sled season. I have ordered thousands of dollars in parts every year and in fact placed another order today for over $200. Michelle knows how to deliver customer service and prices at the same time.

EDIT: Last weeks order from Michelle was just dropped off by UPS. Thanks again, Michelle!

X2 on Michelle...she's the best!!

And yeah, there's a lot of $4, $20, $50 parts on sleds, but dealers fail to realize that a $4, $20, $50 part will add up over the course of a year and the years. I order everything from Michelle and when I buy a new sled next year, I will drive the 550 miles to Baker City to buy it from her, because she has earned my business with fantastic customer service. She has a huge following because no parts is too small and it all adds up.
Would a dealer rather order and sell 1 $200 part or a $4 part 100 times? Unfortunately most will opt for the $200 part once, which will be and is there downfall.

This dealership hasn't changed a bit, same arrogant parts people, same lack of parts and same inept management.

I'm fully aware of the fact that the dealership won't be able to feed it's family from my four dollar part, especially when they don't have one to sell me.

FWIW I did call and speak with the GM (heres the part where you look kinda like an ***). I told him: "I would love to support a local company that is very close to my home, but I'm having a hard time doing that when you don't stock anything that I need and your parts guys are all too cool to help me. I've also called on four separate occasions for parts, parts that are literally on every single AC sled made since 2005, yet you never seem to have anything in stock and you want full MSRP on them.

I went on to tell him that I really want him to succeed, but your parts inventory and your parts staff makes it difficult for me to support you"

His response: "well we can't afford to have a million dollar inventory and we are just starting so I'm not sure what you expect"

Here's what I expect, a dealership that stocks enough parts prior to opening, so that they can support the sleds they are going to sell.

In either case I really don't care, after that I won't be back and neither will my $4. I wonder how many pissed off $4 customers it will take to bankrupt this store for the 4th or 5th time?

As Utah peeps I will say if I could get the same service as tri city I would go there every time. I still go and buy stuff there and I don't own a poo.

I had a hard time going with an AC as I had been a Tri-City customer, but even they had a hard time supporting POO when the 900's and the 800s were having issues.

Sorry, but your point of view is lame, lame, lame. The point is customer service. Most the people on here would gladly spend their money at their local dealer if they are treated right. I don't care what your margins are or how tough it is to be a dealer. Fact is they are in a SERVICE oriented business and they will NEVER be successful without great customer service. Additionally your $4 part will keep a dealership in business along with the dozens and dozens of other small and seemingly insignificant parts and accessories sold daily, but only if great customer service accompanies the sale. If not the customer will go else where and the dealership fails. Lastly, and this isn't always the case, but most the time when there is bad customer service on the employee level there is bad customer service on the management level.

When we had Cats it was Kmotive in Green River, Wy or Cutlers they where the only dealers with inventory in stock and ready for ups or me to pick up same day. And both have staff that will answer you questions.

Your right about the stuff we add on to our sleds. When I bought our new sleds this year we basicly got then at cost, but have spent another 1500 in 3 weeks on spare belts, skags, hyfax, covers, skid plates, hand guards, etc. Sorry if i break something saturday I will be back on the snow sunday so I like to have atleast the basic stuff in the garage.

Since it seems that friends I have known and rode with for near 10 years have commented or at least read this post know that Im now at The Edge. Iv been there for a little over 3 weeks but have been in the industry for 12-13 years at 4 different dealerships.
First let me apologize for the bad experience past and present to everyone. The parts inventory is a work in progress as the cat dealership is very new. The process seems a little backwards I realize, the major units come first and then the support tools, and then the parts. The parts will come and all of us at The Edge are determined to improve in every aspect.

DW, as long as you don't go slam dunking your lunch in the trash every time a
customer walks in to be helped you should do just fine.:face-icon-small-win

12 to 13yrs....really??

LOL!!! Now thats some funny $hit right there. I was just pissed at the chicken soft tacos that we ate 1000 of at Alpine. Besides that was then with the high strung, stressed out, pissed off DW. Now Im the kinder gentler DW. And the fact I work for Super Cool Madmax, Bryan, and Randy, and not for a DOUCHE BAG like we did back then. :face-icon-small-hap

Does Cat have a 'recommended' parts stock? Polaris does. It is a pretty wide range of everyday sorts of parts. When new dealer is setup they ship that recommended order in and you are up and running.

It's not about stocking things that are one offs or hardly used. But I had the same problem with dealers severa times... don't stock clutch springs or trailing arms/a-arms or the likes.
