Avid center drive drivers.... anybody?

Looking for info about the Center Drive Avids..

I'm getting a bit of track skip, mostly after g-outs & on open water... track is plenty tight.. Checked the Avid site & saw the center drive, and it interested me as no rail cutting or anti-stab is needed...

Do they work "as well" as their double extrovert... or will I still b skipping?

Sleds a '17 ASSAULT RMK, w/ a 3" series 7... light mods..Clutched, geared, pipe, can

That is all we use here.

"We" is whom? "Here" is where? Turbo sleds?
So... no issues/skip? As good as the double extrovert?

Questions questions... lol

Just trying to make sure I won't need to upgrade to to the doubles in the future... thats all...

They are "better" then the OEM ones but the 'cat' style ones that drive on the clips with rails cut with an anti stab is WAY better. tons more drive. The center drive really falls apart when the track has been ratcheted much at all, what happens is the drive surface is blown out so the driver really is not longer the weak link. Driving in the clipped windows is ideal, clips dont blow out.

Couldn't agree more!!! Do yourself a favor and get the Powerclaw drivers from Robbie. Cut rails and an Ice Age Anti-stab. Easy Peasy and it flat out works.

I will agree with the "Godfather":face-icon-small-win on this one. Anti-stabs don't scream reliability to me. Bad bearings, bent the crap out of a few and even a stabbed track with them on. I made the Cooke City Sinclair cover photo back in the day. :face-icon-small-ton

My anti ratchet always vibrated like a wash machine out of balance too.

My new PC is center punched with the Polaris style driver. She will be naughty
!!!!

antiratchet

this is what happens when it starts ratcheting on my 2018 Axys it broke fiberglass rod inside the track

Haha, I can't say your wrong. A LOT of anti stabs are pretty hokey, think skateboard wheels, saw cut tube and ace hardware bolts. They definitely are NOT better in that case. Billet 6061 hardcoat anodized wheels. NTN bearings , Turned 7075 shafts, thats a different story ;) I've also switched to purely the 2 wheel inside anti stabs, they hold up a LOT better then the 4 wheels and reduce the risk of part failure causing stabbing risk.

My current avid/anti stab combo most definitely vibrates more then stock. But nothing to be alarmed about and seems to be "breaking in" and smoothing out a little more now they have some miles on them.

Really I think it boils down to, no matter what you run, making sure to use good parts and install properly.

I use the "Cat" style of Avid drivers.

If you decide to go this route, the #1 thing to ensure, is that after you trim the rails and install the anti-stab kit, that the rail tips are NOT in anyway in front of the ant-stab wheels. Here's a pic of my '14 Pro-RMK all trimmed and ran this way with zero issues.

I had to go to different drivers this year too. Turbo 850. I could barely ride the sled with stock drivers and the track banjo tight. I am on a K-Mod skid.

Went with the Avid extroverts. Yes, I have antistab

Yep, me too, but still on my '16 Pro-RMK.

Buy a Kmod skid and you don't have to trim rails or buy an anti-stab. :eyebrows::eyebrows::eyebrows:

Center mounted extros tend to tear the track up under boosted power.
Take the time to do the outside extros, cut the rails and add the antistabbs. Use the biggest 4 wheel kit you can fit in there, barely lifting the track off the rail tips, and mate it with a nice beefy axle. Works great and allows you to loosen the track a bit, which seemed to improve bottom end performance on my 2017 Impulse Boosted Axys with a 174.
