Yikes! :eek:Just look for the sled with the brown seat!:o:D Great pic. Thats the only way I want to see an avy(from a plane):beer;

That is a great pic....thanks for sharing it!! :)

I agree, the only way I want to see these things is in pics, on film, or from a distance, while they are happening anyway. I do like poking around when it's safe to do so, afterwards in ones I come across, to check out the weak layer.

Edit: And I do hope the person involved is safe and sound. That had to be scary.

Noice capture!

PapaVeedy, if you find out who was involved, see if they can send the info to The Canadian Avalanche Association. They are gathering an archives of all the slide activity to educate the public. That pic would be a good one to submit.:)

A couple of Reve locals were going in there today, well that's what they told us last night.

I believe Cymric7 and someone else were going. Maybe Mike J. ? I told him last night that place gives me the creeps, hope everything went ok. Should give him a call and get the long version.

looks like tracks in and out of the slide area. The track out looks like a panic escape, like he looked back and pinned 'er WFO.

I was watching begbie from town today and saw people up there. I was curious if anything would rip out. Whoever was involved should definitely report it to the CAA.

Sure looks like there are. Maybe one entrance and exit, and then just one other? I downloaded the pic so I could blow it up to look at it, and there are 3 sets of tracks.

Anymore news on this one?

I finally got away for a free riding weekend!! The weather and the snow were fantastic! We made a ton of miles, basically ran out of gas each day. Sometimes the guys actually slowed down long enough for me to take a few pictures.

The only significant slides we viewed during our ride in Eagle's Pass on Sat, March 15 were loose slides from steep rock outcrops.
There were lots of observations of cracking and blocks beside our sled tracks, however the recent snow was still so unconsolidated that it had not become a strong enough slab to propagate these weaknesses.

Natural slide in Area 51. North aspect. Across the valley to the west we could see 2 other natural slabs, on different aspects.

We were riding with a large group. The guys ahead of me triggered this slide.

This slab was triggered very low on the slope by the third rider. The riders continued out of this frame to the viewers left before slide started to move. Very soft slab, slow gliding motion and the debris did not set up. I would estimate this to be the March 8 weak layer.

Note the recent slab on the left side of the picture. The next shot is a close up.
