The Alpine Safety Awareness Program (ASAP) is expanding our Snowmobile educational outreach and is scheduling an On The Snow Avalanche Skills Course on March 20th, in Cle Elum Washington. This training has been designed as a snowmobile specific course, and as such you will need to come with your sled. Course instructors have been trained in the curriculum, are current with their first-aid certifications, and are committed to having participants leave the training with a solid, BASIC foundation on how to travel safely in avalanche terrain. Topics covered in the course include:
Pre trip planning
Beacon theory and operation, single and multiple beacon search
Group Rescue
Shovel and Probe techniques
Snow profile demonstrations
Terrain recognition
Safe travel techniques for the back country
This class builds on the previous ASAP classes, and we are asking participants in this course have taken a previous awareness course, either through ASAP or your club or forecast center. The cost is $165
