Avalanche posts should have a pinned thread!!

I am amazed at how many avalanche posts are getting pushed off the first page because someone wants to know "what size hitch ball they need to use" etc.I think they need to be on the top of the page so everyone sees them all the time.
This is getting serious people!! There is a lot of new snow out there, Which we know will cause a lot of avalanches!! 7' of fresh on top of a good base is gonna fall!!!! Stay off the steep hills and let it settle for a while so its safe!! Not only are you going to kill yourself but you might take a friend or family member with you!! THINK!!!
And just because you have all the latest and greatest avy gear doesn't mean your safe to climb an unstable shute safely!! That just means we'll be able to find your body!!
I don't know about the rest of you , but I hate reading about how many people died from avalanches every day. I'd rather see posts about peoples great weekends. Or what they did to their sled to make it run better.
So lets keep it a little safer and if you see someone on a hill they shouldn't be on ...Let em know before it's too late.

Just a little food for thought

There's actually an avalanche awareness forum. I look at it everyday and there are very few posts there. I think that is the place that avy news should be posted but it isn't. JMHO. Everyone here is quick to tell someone who posted something for sale in the wrong forum to post it in the swap meet but not the avy threads. I do realize it would be bad timing to do so but there are avy storys posted in all the other forums. I do not feel they need to be kept at the top.

Last weekend when Washington State had HIGH avavlanche predictions, I started a thread with the link to a special report issued about the high forecasts. I pm'ed the moderators to pinn the topic to the top, for at least the weekend, to no avail. But we can pinn a Colorado group ride, and how to access the month and a half defunt old forums, but we can't pinn a special forecast for avy's in the state of Wa.....

.....Still disgusted.......

I'd like to see the threads moved over to the avy section. Either posted both places, or after a couple of days......move the thread to the avy section so it can be easily found.

My 2 cents

not to be a smartazz in any way at all, but un-fortunatly if we pinned every avy thread on general, thats what the whole first page would be sadly :( Maybe that needs to be done, but they are not forgotten if thats what your getting to. Like Sandy said, needs to be pushed to the avy section

Now there are possibly 8 more deaths over the last 2 days....I think it would be a great idea to keep these posts on high alert!

I have not been out for 2 weeks cause I am scared Sh-----tless waiting for the snowpack to settle in the backcountry for at least a couple of days after the storm cycles pass....

Prayers to the familes of the deceased... How sad..

Me and some buddies were up in island park after a fresh snow and one of my buddies was stuck. We parked at the bottom and waited for him to dig out. Out of the trees came a couple of dumb ***'s. One of them went and cut a line above him. He came down and i waved him over and let him have my thoughts and told him if he ever cuts a line above one of my freinds or anyone else around i would see to it that he didnt climb any hills anymore. Him and his buddie left and headed out. Guess he got my drift.

I think, at least for a while, leaving the avy threads in the general forum will allow more folks to see them. I know myself I often forget to visit the avy forum, but I always am browsing around in general. I do agree though, the news of all the avys and deaths is becoming unfortunately redundant :( I might be going to St. Helens next weekend and I'm half scared sh*tless myself about the avy danger (as Helisledder said).

I have no problem with them in the "general" section.
But there is too much crap pinned at the top already.
We all know how to use the "search" if we want to find them.

I agree about them needing to be pinned up there, especially when they are high avy warnings that people need to see first thing then after they change move them. It does seem messed up that they will pinn some of the topics they do but can't leave highly important info pinned for a few days

Sad truth is kids, more people ride than read. Most of the guys I ride with think the 4ms are gay? I would like to see the thread in the Avy section too. The local news here is doing a good job, but there is WAY more info here. Be safe folks.

If you guys think the average "My Yamadoo highmarked your Polcat" snowester reads the Avy forum (or Land Use) you're likely mistaken - leave it here where they might read it by accident.

Why cant the Colorado 4M ride be pinned in the Colorado riding areas? I agree with the avy reports where people will see them.
