Avalanche in cascade

I heard they were from the Payette area. Please Use Extreme Caution out there if you heading out in the next few days in the Valley County Area. Conditions are very dangerous! Payette Avalanche Center members informed me this morning that it is very unstable snowpack. If you need a beacon please stop in and purchase one we offer great discounts on them. Be safe out there.
Condolences to the family of that Rider....

RIP Joel. :( Very good and fun guy to hang out with.
I was told Zack was going to be ok and hopefully he is. Best wishes to both of them and their families.
They are from the ontario/payette area.

Rip Joel.... Won't be the same not having you around here.. Best wishes to them and there families!!

hay guys im really sorry about the accident. that sucks. if you dont mind telling me what bowl this happened in. im really sorry about this and i hope his family and friends go through this incident well.

I wish their families the best. That is going to put a damper on things for this weekend. :( It's a sad deal that this winter has already claimed a victim down their.

I'll try to tell you the best I can about rock lake. If you leave from the cascade parking lot and ride toward the domes. When you are on the cascade side of west mtn it the biggest bowl. The best way to describe the bowl is that it climbs up levels out and climbs again. Its the one thats always the most tracked up. Ill try to find a picture of it.

Lost Lake location

Lost Lake is just to the east of the top of Snowbank Mtn. The one with the radar dome on it. Down the hill a little ways towards Carbotan.

We have been informed that there will be no grooming until the snow is deemed safe. Check with the avalanche center for information and when to go out on the slopes. go to http://www.payetteavalanche.org/advisory/

Greatest sorrow for those who have lost their loved one.

Horrible! Very sorry for the friends and family of Joel. Our best wishes to everyone involved.

Those pics make it look like the north side of what we call first bowl. Is this the first bowl that you come to when you break back over from the east side when you head south?

When you said that it is the bowl that you climb that "levels out and then goes up again" it sounds like Rock Lake, but the pics don't look like Rock Lake.

Very sorry to hear the news. My Condolences to his friends and family.

Looking at them again, it does look like Rock Lake...a little to the south. There are some trees in spots that I don't recognize but it's early in the year.... I wondered if it was the north end of 1st bowl because that seems to be the most avalanche prone area (2nd to Rock Lake) when you head south.
