***PICS ADDED****
So we went up Mill Hallow Saturday and had a great time but did notice that the snowpack is very unstable. I will get up pics later as I left my camera at home today. We stayed off the big avy prone hills but we did see some telling signs of potential deadly avy's. We were on some north facing slopes that had 12" of some really fluffy snow then a slightly more dense layer about 12" deep as well. Under those 2 layers was a very hard dense layer that the snow would slide off of like it was a sheet of plastic under the snow. We broke 3 small areas loose in the trees and small hills that were about 20 feet long and only slid for about 5 feet after a line was cut below. But this is potentially very dangerous as another storm should be coming in this week. There is a very week layer of snow that this new storm will add more weight and the risk for avy's is going to be very high. Please everyone be safe out there and check conditions before you hit the big hills. There is so much fun to be had out there if you play it smart and safe. Those big hills sure do look tempting but they are a death trap just waiting for a victim.
Pics are up.
Bard rode by this and it started to slide
It only slide to his track below
After walking up to help him get unstuck I was walking down in his track and it broke again and pushed me over with only 18 - 24" of snow.
This one Bard carved down the hill and went across
As I started down the hill the snow started to fracture and broke off rather quickly.
Snow starting to slide
You can see the layer of snow that broke off on top of the hard layer underneath.
Just another angle of the snow that slid. It didn't slide far but this shows what could happen if this was bigger hill.

STAY SAFE EVERYONE!!!
