avalanche danger at baker

Rode Bake today.... broke a wet heavy layer about 2 foot slab at peanut nob but not a slab snow is sticky and and little push from the sled in a powder turn started the hill to move in big boulders and then the hill went............
that nob is small and slide was big and the rail road is moving on both side.

rode out of it on the crest that built 6 feet high up carring me over the trees.
then later in the day the big chute you can see from the lower meadows when big and started from a snowball that fell from the trees

know not alot poeple out but came across 2 snow shoers camping and hiking the summit and warned them so just want to share it hear too...
snow was was great but not slable

I've never been to Baker, thinking about going up tomorrow.

FYI.......... you can get half way to the second snow parking lot but after the second parking lot the road are completly bare 4 or 5 turns up the switch back.

Is the bare area too far down to get any of the new snow in the last couple days?

Isn't there a short cut to Schreibers off of the Blue lake trail?

Is this a secret short cut or is it well known/easy to find?

Dang, good lookin out there sledrevy, glad you or anyone else didn't get hurt. Guess all those early season layers are rearing their ugly heads now huh? I was thinking about heading up there again soon, but peanut sliding?!?! Holy crap. That will wake a guy up, never thought about slides that low. Well, hopefully we can get some plowing up there, sounds like its about time.

It will be WAAAY TOOOO Dangerous ride Baker until Stabilization occurs on Friday night. Better to ride then. Besides there is way too much gravel and the blue trail is all hacked up cause everyone knows it.

the big flat top when u start getting into the railroad were they held baker fesrt and had the food and tents...... south in an hill-ridge - morain..... that peanut knob

This is Peanut Knob, It's the Knob loking hill that kind of seperates the meadows area from the valley between the two ridges(railroad grade on west, and sulpher moraine on the east). Where the shootout BBQ was is right above peanut.

Someone else gets to explain hood hill, big house, horse corral, baker pass, and the lookout. :D

Anyone know why the road was plowed out partially then the road to the dam was groomed and then locked the gate?? And why did the Landcruiser park in the way up the road. Man it was a cluster#@$% yesterday for awhile. Still a great ride. :D

I was the white crew cab chevy with the sled deck parked next 2 a blue chevy. Before we left we seen 4 rigs come up together with 1 turnaround and not much parking. I'm glad we got there when we did. Good thing not many people showed up.
