Ive taken this class and its well worth the money.
Still planning the full on lvl 1 class at park x mike?

I'm planning on doing a four hour beacon and rescue field session up there, but I'm having a hard time getting anyone to call back or respond to emails. I'll let you know as soon as I find out. Feedback was that the four hour session would fit into people's schedule better. Thanks for the interest, Mike

Classes this week

Still some spots available in Fargo, Detroit Lakes and Milwaukee.

I'm arranging the date for the rescue and beacon field session at Quadna Mountain Park. Looking at January. Mike

Myself and a few guys are taking the course in Fargo next week, and I am wondering what to bring..if anything?

Anyone having taken the course have suggestions?

Thanks
Skier

What to bring to class:
I supply a course booklet, bring a pen and paper to take notes. Also, if you have any questions about your beacon, bring it and I can help you out. Mike Duffy

mike, any update on the minneapolis class, exact date, is the class full? would fly from lansing michigan to the cities for the class. ski

I am amazed that there is a lack of interest / response in some areas. People if you sled (especially out west) and you HAVE NOT taken an avy course.............You need to take one for yourself AND for your riding buddies. Bring your riding buddies with you. The more educated and trained people you ride with the better your survival rate is if a "situation" occurs.

I attended and LEARNED an incredible amount from Mike Duffy's course in Colorado earlier this month. Been riding for the better part of 30 years........kidding myself.........that I could actually be affective if the time came. Well, the fact is I wouldn't have been effective at all and I still have more to learn. That is why I am now looking forward to one of Mike's course's out on the snow!

TAKE THE CLASS. It is some of the best $$ spent.

Enjoy.

I agree. People will spend $1000 on riding gear. People will spend anywhere from 2-12 hours driving to ride. But they won't spend $45 and a few hours to start learning how to recognize when not to get on the hill, and how to give yourself the best chance to live if you are caught, and how to save your riding buddies if they are caught...

Sitting in class for a few hours is well worth it if it means you don't have to wake up every morning for the rest of your life and remember the helpless feeling of having a buddy buried, thinking you know what to do and ending up attending a funeral...hate to be a downer, but seriously, it could be that situation...
