Instructor: Mike Duffy. Level I & II Avalanche instructor Colorado Mountain College, rescue/avalanche team leader/avalanche mission coordinator Vail Mountain Rescue Group, instructor Walter Kirch Avalanche Seminars, graduate of National Avalanche School, National Academy of Winter Guiding, AVPRO. Mountain Snowmobiler for 20 years. Member American Avalanche Association. Trained by BCA and Ortovox.

Course content:
-Introduction to avalanches, statistics, contributing factors.
-Avalanche reports.
-Signs of instability/stability analysis.
-Equipment.
-What to carry and what works best.
-Avalanche beacons.
-Fast and effective single and multiple burial searches.
-Rescue
-Avalanche survival methods
-Deploying avalanche airbag packs
-Effective hasty search techniques.
-Mistakes in rescue.
-Group Dynamics/heuristics.
-Slide show: Terrain Evaluation/terrain traps.
-Preparing for your trip.

Good class lots of info. Makes you really think back to where you ride and what could have happened or what you would have done differently on that day. Well worht the $45.
 
Yes great class in bemidji, The rest of my riding group will be taking his class on the 18th in baxter.
 
After taking the class our group cancelled our trip out west, were now going to Iowa!! :eek: LOL

I attended the Bemidji class and found the information extremely interesting and helpful. Anyone riding out west should consider taking this class.
 
Great class Mike. (Fargo, ND) I now have a ruined pair of Levi's and a mountain sled for sale. I'd rather watch mountain mod mania.
Anyways very good class. Wish my other guys could have came with. Hopefully I'll never have to use my beacon.
