Avalanche Center Mobile App!

I was just thinking today, after downloading the KSL weather app on my phone, which is SWEET by the way.
I don't know how much it costs to build an app or whatever. How nice would it be to have an app you download on your droid or iphone from the avalanche center. Always up to date with the most current conditions. It may display the Utah map that is on their page now and you can check conditions. It will notify you through alerts of changing conditions or anytime they update.
You could set alert thresholds like anytime an area changes to moderate or above it would alert you, etc?

Just a thought, they could make something really, really, cool and useful. Just wondering on cost, etc.

I do too, but it is slow. There is all that extra stuff on the page you don't need. App is instant at your fingertips and allows alerting.

I would see Just the Map with colors or a quick list showing areas and colors and the ability to set alerts.

The applications are not difficult or expensive to develop, particularly when discussing the droid. The only difficult portion of the development is the connection the data, in this case the information provided from another site.

If the UAC is willing to provide access to their data, I could develop an application rather quickly that would pull just the information that would be useful on a mobile device.

Anyone have connections with the UAC?
